Not sure if this will help you guys but here's how to read a tire and hopefully help you choose your tire.
Suppose we are looking at the following tire:
P215/45R-17 87W
P - Stands for Passenger car tire. If it says LT than it is a Light Truck tire. If there is nothing there it means its a European metric tire.
215 - This is the width of the tire in millimeters.
45 - This is the height of the sidewall, but is measured in a percentage of the tire width. Ex: 45% of the 215mm equals a 96mm sidewall.
R - Radial tire construction
17 - the diameter of the wheel the tire is to be mounted on. Measured in inches.
87 - The load index or load capacity of the tire. Basically how much weight the tire can support.
W - The speed rating of the tire. Designates the maximum speed at which the tire can handle.
