Scion VIPs cheer Scion to victory at ScionVIP@NHRA Mountain Madness event
Brad Personett, behind the wheel of his Titan Motorsports Scion tC, picked up his fifth NHRA Xplod victory this year, and there to cheer him on were over 100 Scion VIPs. The invited Scion owners, their guests, and their 47 Scion xA, xB, and tCs took center stage at the NHRA Xplod Mountain Madness Sport Compact Nationals this past June 11. The mile-high gathering near Denver marked the third event of the 2006 Scion VIP @ NHRA Xplod series. The Scion caravan settled into a group display worthy of more than a few ?Kodak? moments ? the four dozen Scions were neatly nestled between the side of a mountain and overlooking the famous Bandimere Speedway racing surface. But taking in the scenery lasted only a few minutes before the cleaning and polishing of cars began in preparation for the ScionVIP judged car show.
By noon, the Scion VIPs and their guests were ready to get out of the sun and for a catered lunch under the ScionVIP hospitality tent. The lunch break was a perfect pause to work up anticipation for the Scion VIP Product Giveaway session at the ScionVIP DJ stage. Thanks to generous sponsors Scion, TRD, Konig wheels, Advanced Clutch Technology, SPC Performance, and GT Revolution, over 20 Scion owners had more than the usual amount of Scion swag and commemorative t-shirt to throw in the back of their trunks.
Roman Baginski and Justin Hartley both took home camber and alignment correction kits for their lowered Scions courtesy of SPC Performance. Jason Halterman scored an instant performance upgrade for his Scion xB by winning an ACT performance clutch for his Scion xB. Erin Monson scored a performance and style upgrade by winning a set of 17? Konig wheels for her Scion. Meanwhile, in the GT Revolution Drag Challenge, Christopher Smith worked a 7.20 E.T. to best all other challengers and win a GT Revolution driving simulation chair; Christopher won the racing-seat equipped simulator playing PS2?s NHRA Drag Racing Championship.
For many though, despite the Giveaway and other activities ? including a contest where the contestant with the best imitation of a Scion engine running down a drag strip took home a iPod Shuffle digital music player ? the highlight of the day came at the end of the day, when the winners of the Scion VIP car show were announced. For their hard work and creativity, the following Scion owners were recognized with a Scion VIP trophy:
