How things work at my dealership is, in order to sell Scions, you have to be Scion certified. To become certified you have to take a few tests but the dealership itself has to recommend you. Now if the dealership that your interested working for is just Scion and not Toyota, then you should be all set in regards to becoming certified. Now I am sure that you are aware of the no haggle pricing when it comes to Scions. As a sales person, I will warn you that you do not make that much money selling Scions. How you make your money is on the accessories. When working in sales at a dealer, there is a minimum that you can make on vehicles that you sell. Most of the time you will hear this called mini's or flats. The flat on a Scion at my dealership is $75 and I get 20% of any accessories that I sell. For instance if I sell a TRD exhaust for $500, I will get 20% of $500 but, you only will get a percentage on the accessories, if they are purchasing them at the same time as the vehicle. Scions are easy to sell though as long as the customer realizes that there is no moving on price. Most dealers will give you a salary as well as commission. For me I get $200 a week plus 20% commission based on the amount of gross I make per vehicle. You really can make a ton of money selling cars especially if the dealer is reputable and your an aggressive salesman. At my dealer we move vehicles based on volume. We sell around 500 cars a month and my average check is $2500 a week. If you love cars, can talk to people easily, and have the motive to make as much money as possible, I strongly suggest that you get the job. The only thing that sucks is the hours and unfortunately you will miss a lot of car shows. If you have any questions or would like some selling tips, let me know. Good luck!
pm sent. thanks!
