Default Throttle Actuator Control

For those who have an 05 Scion TC, beware.

I have a 05 Scion TC which i got in the Summer of 04. I have just passed the 36000 basic warranty and now my car has a problem which is only covered by the basic warranty.

The Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) is messed up. I found that out when the engine light went on. I had an OBDII meter plugged in and it says P2102 TAC low engine circuit. What happens is that when it malfunctions, the car goes into the Limp-In Mode. The car will not go pass 3000 RPM in neutral and can only move in the 1st gear. I bought the car into the dealership and they told me that it will cost about $1400 to repair. Why it happens I have no idea because the dealers haven't told me much. This is an electrical problem so the powertrain warranty does not cover. So for those who have not yet passed the 36000 basic warranty, get it checked on by the servicing department.
