That is fine for you, but what about the other people that you may involve in the accident? I personally had to fly to an African country and bring home a fallen Sailor. He was riding in the back seat w/o a seat belt when the vehicle swerved to miss a potential IED and lost control hitting a pole. He was ejected from the back seat straight thru the windshield. He would have survived with a seatbelt. Also, anything that you have loose in your hatch area, say a subwoofer enclosure, could take your head-off in a severe stop.
