Part of my post failed to post so here is the rest.

The point that I was making about amplifier power levels is this.

Simply stated; it is better to have to much amp power then not enough. A good Installers rule of thumb is drive a speaker with an amplifier that is more than equal to it's RMS rated output by atleast 25%. In other words, if a speaker is rates at 50Watts RMS, then drive it with an amplifier capable of 66.5Watts RMS. For subs you want to look at up to 50% higher. The reason is this; to overdrive an amp to push a speaker towards its max actually overloads the amps capacity. This causes distortion and really heats up the amp. Now driving the same speakers with a more powerful amp allows you to turn the gains and boost levels down, thus allowing the amp to run more efficiently. With overhead there is less distortion.
