yes it will stay on you have to put them in the new rims. (tps is apart of the vavle stem) If they will fit.

if you have an '07+ you need to transfer the sensors into the new wheels

TPMS - Tire Pressure Monitor System.

tps-light-tps-diagram.jpg

I believe that only the Dealer can disable the TPMS light with their Toyota ECM interface tool.

On this TPMS am I supposed to reset it or does it work automatically or how does it work??
One morning I decided to check the tire presure and they were all 10psi under there norm which from memory I think is 51psi.

I was not happy to about my under inflated tires.

NO NO No. 51PSI is not the norm. That is actually way too much. You should run anywhere from 32-35PSI for normal driving. 28-32PSI for getting sticky in the corners.

TIRE PRESSURE WARNING RESET SWITCH
• By operating the tire pressure warning reset switch,
the tire pressure warning ECU can be set to issue a
warning at an inflation pressure that corresponds to
the type of tires.
Therefore, the dealer must set the warning threshold
to the proper value in order to comply with the local
regulations.
• Operate the tire pressure warning reset switch only
after the inflation pressures of all tires have been
adjusted on the vehicle.
• To initialize the system, press and hold the tire
pressure warning reset switch for 3 seconds or longer
with the ignition switch in the ON position. After the
initialization process has started, the warning light
blinks 3 times (1 second on, 1 second off).
• During initialization, the tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter measures the inflation pressure of the
tires, and registers the signals that are transmitted
into the tire pressure warning ECU at a frequency of
once per minute. The initialization process is
completed when signals from the all tires have been
received.

pressure should be 32/29 cold psi front/rear, btw... there's even a sticker on the inside part of the door area with the specs.

AFAIK, the Toyota Scantool can't disable the TPMS.. only reprogram any new sensors when needed.

REALLY
I always thought that your supposed to inflate the tires to whatever the side of the tire says, and since the stock Bridgestone say 51 psi. That's what I did.
So I need to inflate the tires between 32-35psi Right?

Just remember the cover sheet on the TPS report if you have the dealership change the sensors for you. Or youll have 5 or 6 service guys ask you if you got the memo

the 51psi is the rating.. the max it's supposed to handle.. NOT what you're supposed to be running at!

each car has their own recommended settings.. ours is 32/29 front/rear..

it's on the sticker i already mentioned about when you open your driver-side door..

Running at max PSI is unsafe, especially when you add a heavy load and heat the tires up.

I have konig 18's and never had the light come on and the sensors were never swapped from the stock wheels. All I can figure is that the computer senses no wheel sensors and just shuts that part of the system off.

Out of a 97 page manual, I could find no reference about operation normalization w/o the TPM's. This is a very high-tech gizmo. Does way more than you think. In case you wonder what the TPM's look like.....tps-light-tpm.jpg

Just a lil update on the light thing,,,from what I can tell now the light in mine started blinking one day and the next it was out,,,Maybe I was wrong about the system shutting down but it never stays on long,,, I think just to tell ya that theres a problem but if you know theres no sensors then theres no problem.
