rear scion symbol

Hello I was wondering how do you take the rear Scion symbol off.
i know about the plastic covers and the two 10mm nut but i tried and it did not come off. Am I missing somthing that I have to do?

I think it is held in place by some heavy duty double-sided mounting tape.

You need a hairdryer or a heatgun to heat up the adheadsive but BE CAREFULL. Use some fishing line to basically floss the emblem off. There are 2 nipples on the emblem that are inset into the panel. So by taking the emblem off your leaving an indent and 2 holes in that panel.

So if you take it off, plan on talking to a well qualified paint shop that can make it smooth (basically body filler, sand smooth, and repaint)

Its the same thing to get the tC off the back end. Just gotta be carefull with the heat because too much you will screw your clear coat to crap.

And buy some goobgone or some adhesive remover thats not caustic to paint to get the residue they leave behind from the tape.

My car is slowly approching the day when it goes under the knife to smooth the back end up and its only Scion symbols are on my keys and in my steering wheel

Does anybody know of alternative logos that could be placed in the location of the rear scion logo? I am looking for something that is not Scion or Toyota, but maybe just a plastic piece with no text but the pattern of Scion, or really whatever might be out there.

Or, alternatively, approximately how much it would/should cost to fill/paint the recess from which the scion logo was removed? I read the previous thread on what was needed to remove the logo, but wanted to get an idea of the rest of my desired process before I take that step.

well its pretty much answered, but the way i get off symbols is a piece of thin wire and pull it through the tape but be careful not to get too close to the paint!! Work in a body shop so have more sources but any ?'s about body stuff feel free to ask!!

if that fails .. try dental floss and goo-gone
