Default Ordered my HIDs!

just ordered a 6000K kit from Mod Express Inc. - Refining the Essence of Mobility.

the payment should go through monday, shipped on tuesday, should hopefully have them installed by friday.

i was going to order from the same place Soulbane got his but i ran across mod express on scionlife.com. both kits were $140, and the guy i ordered from got good reviews on a bunch of different sites so i said what the heck... it seems like both our companies inject the ballast with polymer/rubber/whatever to make it shock- and waterproof plus they have a 1 year warranty, and an additional 2 year or lifetime warranty for purchase.

now just to find a place to mount the ballasts...

Angry

Yeah but they were DOA. I plugged in both ballasts, and both bulbs, even switched them around, nothing worked.

I shot them an email and they said turn the ballast plug 180 degrees. Can't do that, the plug won't allow a reverse install. So now I'm waiting on a reply about an exchange or something... I'm so $#!%^&

seriously. i emailed them at 10am this morning, they sent me a b.s. troubleshooting tip at like 12pm, and since then i havent heard from them. i sent another email stating i need a replacement kit and i'll send it out next week.

not a good start for my modding...

keep buggin them! I hate when companies give you the run-around and avoid you. but keep in mind it is friday, most people like to cut out early on fridays if possible especially when business is slow

Ok so they sent me an email once again saying turn the ballast plug 180 degrees. If you look at the ballast and the plug it looks like it can only go 1 way... apparently not.

I forced plug on the wrong way, the clip going over a large square protrusion that seems like it was placed there to prevent accidental polarity swap. The clip hugs the little square block, while the red cable for the bulb is on the negative side while the black cable is now labled positive.

After all that they lit up for the 1st time. I bent an included bracket to allow me to bolt 1 ballast to the chassis just under the abs motor, & the other ballast attached to the drivers side fender w/velcro.

At the moment I'm tired from my double shift yesterday... 2 hours of sleep last night... and early morning shift today. Once I drive around a bit to make sure everything stays in place ill take pics to show you guys what I'm talking about.

I'm just happy I don't have to go thru the hassle of a return/exchange!

to be honest, they really aren't all that much brighter than stock. the 05-07 tc headlights do a great job projecting beam pattern already and adding a higher power HID system just raises the brightness to see signs...

not that i really care though. they look hella wicked!
