unfortunatly i am not sure about the click noise but i have heard the short shift only cuts down your shifting by milliseconds. So a shortshift is def. cool to have and brag about but i guess its your call. If your gonna run it on the track or do alot of racing every second counts! im sure someone will know about the click.

Not sure on the "click", so consider this a free bump. ...But then again this thread probably doesn't need a bump because this is a slow forum.

At any rate, I think you'd enjoy having a short shifter just to have it. I'm getting one. Not because of the race thing. I just enjoy the ease of shifting with one. It feels better and more natural. Just my $.02.

its just the car going into gear no biggie if you have the radio on you dont even hear it. : ) and i would suggest an aftermarket shifter they are great they dont cut down on the height just the length of the throw. but you could always cut and re thread..

i have the shortshifter and mine doesnt "click"
it does have a little trouble shifting into reverse every once and a while though. just gotta let it roll and then try again and it goes in fine.
this is my first 5spd car, so i dont know if that is normal or not...

That is caused by the reverse synchro gears; normal.
