    Question Projector Headlights

    Hey guys,

I know this topic has been touched on already, but I wanted to know where can I get my hands on the 2008 factory projector lights that come with the 2008 Scion tC? I heard from a friend unless you go down that expensive path, you'll have issues with the after market projectors because there has been some talk about the lens getting fogged up.

Has anyone bought after market projector head lights and has experienced any issues, if not let me know your experience and what brand, and website did you buy the headlights from.

    Thanks,

    s0uL

I had E-bay projectors on my truck and they were not bad for awhile then they started to suck they were never aimed properly which was part of the problem but in my opinion if you want to do something like this you get what you pay for.

    Hey Bruin,

Thanks for replying, the funny thing is my friend from So Cal who also drives a Scion tC told me the same thing, "you get what you pay for".

you can get the 08 oem headlights from your dealer or here: Sparks Toyota

you can also get a set aftermarket projectors with bmw style halos from ebay for cheaper. most people dont have problems with these. and you have several styles to choose from: scion tc projector headlights, Parts Accessories, eBay Motors items on eBay.com

of course... to finish the product you must get HIDs...

I had ebay projectors on my civic. They looked great but after bout 3 months they started to fog and a halo burned out. Plus the beam pattern sucked.

If you want quality projectoes then spend the $$$ and get the oems from a dealer.

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for giving your input and Graphite thanks for sharing me the negatives of buying the not so expensive kind of projector lights, I was told by my friend too that the ones that are more inexpensive would have the possibility of doing the fogging. I was also concerned by one of the Halos going out on the projectors.

Thanks a lot, I know now that, "you get what you pay for".

    Much Appreciation,

    s0uL

one dude at a scion place said yes and another said no.
that first dude said $450 for both w/o installation, the other guy said $450 for each...
they also said the keys are $200 to be made then another $100 to be programmed O_O

The 08-09 heads will fit in any year. They're all interchangeable just like the tails. I bought a set of 07 heads off of a guy that did that. I will be baking those open and doing custom retro projectors.

And yes, the keys are very expensive

They shouldn't. Installment should be as easy as pulling off your front bumper, unbolting the old ones and bolting up the new ones. While checking for proper aiming first...

No problem. I have a BSP 07 with 09 tails. While at a meet last Sunday, we had 4 BSP tC's with the same taillights lined up and I was the only one with the older style heads lol. That will change once I'm done with my retro...

    you forgot..

you'll also need to change out your bulb harness as the '08+ projectors dont use 9006, but H11's instead.
    LEDs.... yay!

just a miniscule detail a person will run into if they think the projectors will be a direct plug and play fit.

well.. it'll fit.. that's for sure... but just the low beam... hmm.. something... different
    LEDs.... yay!

Ok I heard that something would have to be changed jus wasn't sure. I won't be able to do this project for a while but the newer headlights are just so sexy to me lol
Btw: I emailed my local dealership before seeing this thread and they just emailed back saying "no the new headlights will not fit" o_O

E-mail them back and ask why. They may just be saying that because of the wire harness change.

Don't Believe the dealer, buy the head lights, its not that difficult, hardest thing is installing the headlamp other then that your alright. But yea make sure you buy the right bulbs or you'll burn out the sockets.

I was at a car show today for Fast and Furious and there were tons of tCs and I asked the same question to another tC owner - everyone pointed at him to ask and he said no. The newer headlights are thinner towards the back part of the headlight. So now I'm confused but they did say they do make really good aftermarket ones, I just don't want halos.
Some wanna meet up and swap headlights to see lol
