VRD bottom grille

I just bought the VRD grille set off of ebay and I was able to get the top one in there no problems. But the bottom one does not want to snap in. I can get all the bottom tabs to snap, but the top it seems that the "lip" on the grille is not deep enough to allow the top to fully snap on. A simple push and it caves in on itself. Is this a common problem with the VRD grilles? Right now I had to go back to the stock one on the bottom. Its still is an improvement from running the two stock grilles, but I'd like to get the bottom one in there.

Has anyone had this same problem? If so, what did you do? I was thinkin I might have to go and somehow get the grooves a little deeper... thoughts?

Did you get the knock off grills? Or the real deal?

If its real then contact vrd thru their website.

yea u hav to b careful watchu get off of ebay .. there are a lot of knock off's .. I recommend official TRD or Scion sites to see the real deal THEN look on ebay for that EXACT item but for a lower price .. not for replica items .. but that's jus how I do things

Well the ebay auction I did referenced the VRD website... so I assume that it came through them, but the box said "Discount Shopping Online" so I dunno, maybe it is a knock off one, but when you scrolled through the auction they had a link to VRD's website, so maybe not.

But the auction states that items are sold "as is" and unless they are broken or truly defective, they don't do anything blah blah blah, and you have to pay shipping costs back to them. So I think I may be chopping it up with the handy dandy dremel to make the notchs a little deeper so that it snaps in.

Any thoughts? Nobody has had a fitment issue with these at all?

well if u can't return it the best thing to do is make use of it
customize it to make it fit as best as possibly
no .. no fitment issues on my four piece grille kit

no dice, didn't work. I'm pissed, I just paid 140 for THE UPPER grille only basically. I think I am going to try calling them tomorrow and see what they have to say. It just was not fitting whatsoever.

If they do nothing for me, I may just try painting the stock lower grille a gloss color to at least match the luster of the top grille. Do I have to prep that for a gloss black? Or can I just shoot it with a plastic paint and be good to go?

I may actually just use some of the 3M double sided tape to get the top part to stay. Don't worry, it wont look ghetto, you won't see the tape at all. HAHA! If that doesn't work, I will try doing the stock grille for sure. I think it will look good too if it comes out the way I would like it to.

Definitely does not sound like a real VRD grille. You could have gotten it for $140 shipped if you just bought it from their actual website. They have it for 40% off right now.

Guess so... I got them for 140 shipped off of ebay, but apparently it is a hack job. So whatever, what am I gonna do? Maybe I will try calling them and see if they sell just a bottom one instead.

ya i got ripped off on ebay... i payed 70 for upper and lower but when it came it had no harnesses or anything to put it on.. just f***** zip ties.. im just going to buy another one..
