It looks like it might be vinyl. Also, looks like a RAZO knock off.

Sorry, my Son has the Razo shift knob in his RS3.0. The base is white, not chrome. That is why it looked like a knock-off to me. Whether it is plastic, vinyl, or leather it can be painted with the right paint.

What's up with all of these tC wrecks? It seems like most people on here have had at least one accident in their tC...

    You mean lack of experience?

This was your first FWD correct? Were you on the stock tires? The factory installed craptenzas weren't stable in just the same maneuver that you described.

Yes, I was talking about experience level in the earlier post. Not just experience in spirited driving, but that of the vehicle itself. Each vehicle has it's own nuances even between the same platform. Finding the limits of the vehicle's acceleration, braking, and handling is most important to safe driving. This does not matter if you are grandma driving a grocery getter or 22 in a Ford GT (OK, probably a 350Z). From a Pinto to a Econovan to a tC to a Ferrari, knowing the limits of your vehicle can keep you in the safe zone and the winner's circle (if your so incline to race your Pinto).

Exactly. I've been to the point of my car's limits. I know how far I can go. I went over a mountain with my sister VERY spirited. Almost lost it on a really sharp curve. I know not to get that close again (major drop if I hadn't controlled it). But my father is still kind of scared to ride with me lol.

OK, I am confused. Was it your tC or your sister that was spirited?

There is a ideology in the Military called Situational Awareness (SA). In basic terms it is knowing where you are, your environment, and what you are doing in that environment. Ever wonder why a pilot takes a perfectly good fighter jet and makes a lawn dart out of it? They lost their SA. Confused as to which way is up, they did not trust their instruments. Loss of SA is the number one problem in Military accidents. Being on the cellphone while driving is the #1 distraction that causes accidents. That is why it is soon to be banned everywhere.

Here is one that you might not think of, crank'n up the bass. That happened to me when I was taking a banking curb at 100MPH in my '83 Mercury Capri. It had a lowered, tight suspension but I was running tires way to wide for the wheels that I had. I knew just how far I could take it by the sound of the tires (screech). When the sound changed to a squal, I was at the very edge of the limit. I was complacent as I drove this stretch at this speed 6 days a week. With the bass cranked up and not paying much attention, I never noticed the tire sound change. Just then, I hit the slight dip in the middle of the curb causing the rear tires to completely loose traction. There I was drifting sideways at 100MPH in a narrow, tight curve with an "Oh Shiite!" on my face.

I drove my tC spitited. VERY fun. I was on near-slicks lol. It was in the summer time and they stuck very nicely. I rarely get a chance to get down there anymore. 4 hour drive .

okay not meaning to get off subject here but the shift knob is got leather on it the one material i was hoping it wouldnt have and thats what it has damnit so it looks like i am up a creek on getting it painted to match the exterior of my vehicle.

And to set the story strait this is my first car with that new fangled traction control and break distribution garbage i need to figure out how to disable all that crap but it could also be the yoks that were on this car i dont know much about this particular set of rubber but my old yoks were damn good tires held the road well. You know they say all the best sports cars were made between 1990 and 1998 i wonder if thats becoming true to me now or not.

Suck to hear that man. It's not off topic, we kind of jacked your thread lol. I know the 09's come with the EBD but I don't know about the traction control. I didn't know the tC had that option. Are you talking about the limited-slip?

I agree. But, what happens when 16yo Johnny decides he wants to go racing and tries to drift around a corner and falls over the side of a cliff?...Not a sermon, just a thought.

well to be honest if 16 year old jonny is stupid enough to go drifting around a corner without knowing what the hell he is doing than he deserves what he gets. Sorry i know its hard but thats stupid and really i have been driving along time and have driven alot of cars this is the only car i have ever lost control of other than a ford probe and that was becuase it was wet and i had some mad cross winds. but other than that i have always been blessed with good reaction times hell little jonny probably has better ones then me with all these damn games that are out now LoL

Okay so back on subject can someone give me a good way to die this leather to match as close as possible the same color as my car its the crimson color thanks for all your help
