    Default Tailights Nighshade vs. Film

Just wondering what the pro's and cons are of each

my freind and i just smoked out the back lights of his car with film... it was a *****, not horrible like 1 or 2 bubbles near the edge of one of the lights, but the other 3 werent perfect either, it slide around alot and took probably 20 minutes each to set and press out every bubble.

So im wondring if i use nightshade can i just tape off parts of the car and paint it?

A ouple of tutorials ive seen are a little confusing one says you cant touch it for a day, the other seems like you wait an hour and can reinstall/ drive

just wondering if anyone could help me out thanks.

Did you use a heat gun to stretch the overlay? Tint type overlays usually dont work very well. The poly-vinyl types work the best. You can tape off and paint light with VHT on the car, but for best results, taking the light assemblies off give better results.

Found this thread that has articles for your subject.

alright thanks again, i think im just going to send you messages instead, youre everywhere on this forum.

It hard sometimes to find an answer on here, people seem to like to argue alot, and i saw a few people saying film looks better, and one of my buddies told me just to use nightshade and clearcoat, so i think that's what ill do since they are about the same price.

If i leave the tailights on the car i can just tape up the body right? If i take them off i hav to cover the electrical connections, plus then im out of a car for a day, if i tape it i let it sit for a few hours then it reads like i can drive it.

Arguing on Club-tC? I think not. This ain't SL. We are newbie friendly and flame free here.

I haven't been on here much lately, but I am the Senior Tech Moderator. No need to message me (unless you want) to get me to answer a question. I will answer in either method as soon as I can.

Major issues with nightshades is that you can't remove it w/o leaving your lenses looking like crap. This is a prob if local laws prohibit or change to prohibit smoked/blacked out lenses. Tint film will eventually fade or even crack over time but you can remove it fairly easy. Then all you have to do is apply a new set.

Quality kits from Lamin-X offer a variety of shading options and are much more resilient than the two options that you are exploring.
