Parking Light Bulb and Turning Signals.

Recently my two front parking light bulbs went out and i was curious to know if it's legal to change the color of these lights. These are the lights that when you turn the light switch once the little lights come on inside the housing. And anyone one anything about the mirror mounted lights if those can be changed to a different color. I live in NY, not sure if that helps at all. Thanks.

Your parking lights and turn signal bulbs are Yellow, so in turn changing them to another color can and will get you a ticket and may or may not pass NYS Inspection. You can opt to change them out for Yellow LED bulbs, but you'll need to install resistors. As far as mirror lights, those need to be yellow as well.

The 428 bulb in the reflector '05-07 headlamps are clear bulbs. Though they serve as front parking lamps, I believe the Owner's Manual referred to them as accent lights. I don't have access to my manuals right now to confirm this.

Requirements for a street-legal car are set by the state governments. The best way to find out what an individual state requires is call the DMV. If you look in the gov't pages of your phone book, there should be a listing for inspections. Those guys will be the experts.

The only flak that I ever got for my blue LED accent lights was at the Navy Base here in New Orleans. When you approach the gates at night, you are required to dim your lights. When they head lamps are not on, the reflectors light up solid blue.
