Everyone knows how miserable it can be trying to work on your car in the middle of the driveway under the hot sun in the summer or having to put down your tools as the weather becomes nasty in the winter. In this multi-part article we are going to cronical the planning and building of a home garage and workshop.

Part 3: Foundation

In the last part, we cleared the area and broke up tons of rock in digging the foundation.  Now its time to actually start the building by pouring the foundation.

Here you can see the workers preparing to pour the cement to make the base of the building.

With a base laid, they began building the foundation out of block with plenty of mortar holding them together.

The next image is from the front.  You can see the outline of where the front three garage bays will be located.

The foundation extends about three blocks high over the surface of the earth.  Afterwards, the blocks were sealed with cement giving us a nice smooth finish.  Multiple dump truck loads of crushed stone were used to fill in the foundation.  You can see that there will be three garage doors ont eh front along with a regular entrance door, a fourth garage door located on the back side ofthe garage, and a seconds entrance door on the other side of the garage.  The site is now ready for the framers to begin.

That's all for now. Feel free to post any questions or comments.
