Ah yes, it reminds me of the old days when I was a car audio guru.
As with most things in automotive electronics, not much is standardized. 6.5" is just a loose specification of cone size and not the fitment size. The size of the mounting flange of the basket, the depth of the speaker, and the size of the motor (magnet) are all factors that cause fitment issues. I do know that 6.5" with a deep mount and a large motor will not be a direct drop-in for the front doors. I have Alpine Type R 6.5" mid-bass drivers in the doors. I had to build a trim ring to give mount it far enough out so that it did not interfere with the window travel. Many an installer have, in error, mounted a large speaker in the doors just to have the customer run the window down and crack the glass against the speaker! Problem that I have is that with the volume about 3/4, the long throw of the mid-woofer hits the stock door grill. Crutchfield is a good resource for what fits.

Components in front and not rear, because that will sound the best.
But unless your a car audio guru, you will want components in the rear, because now adays, most people affiliate loud, with sounding good. Not saying you dont know any better, but thats just how it is. A PROPER car audio setup, will have ONLY sound coming from infront of you, ZERO rear fill speakers. That is natural sound. When was the last time someone spoke to you and the sound came from the rear? When was the last time someone sang to you and played a guitar and it came from the rear? Concerts, only speakers in front of you. The natural listening position is music in front. Only reason subs sound ok in the rear is beacuse bass has no major distinctive direction like the higher frequencies do. You can give general idea of where low tones come from, but not pinpoint. Higher tones, mids and tweeters, a good ear can pinpoint exactly. So you want that to be infront of youas if you are being sung to or talked too. (dang thats a long post)

i dont transport passengers in the back seat. just jewell from time to time since she's too big to ride in the front... so it wouldnt be a big deal if you dont routinely ride people in the back...
besides, if it sounds good, they'll get over it!
