Although I'm all for in dash tvs and such, what you're trying to do is really illegal and unsafe. I'm not trying to preach, but I've seen lots and lots of threads asking the very same question you're asking and not one person was ever helped.

Pioneer developed their new head units that play dvds so that the parking brake safety function can't be bypassed. I've read on audio forums that even master installers can't break into it.

Plus given the scenaio with a "what if...":

Lets say you do bypass it and your passenger is watching a movie... if there was an accident and an investigator sees you have a monitor in your car that allows dvds to play within view of the driver, they can investigate further to see if the bypass function is enabled. If it isn't, I believe there's a hefty fine, maybe a chance you can be denied an insurance claim, and possibly be sued by the other party for causing the accident.

Like I said I'm not trying to preach, & I'm all for monitors installed all over the place, but play it smart... just hook it up as intended - to the parking brake. My friend did that and he just clicked it up 1 notch to make the light come on and the screen function...

But I don't condone it

i have a kenwood unit and personally i like the quality better. pioneer did up their security on this issue starting back with the avic-n2. there are ways around it, it is just very confusing and time consuming to make work.

and yes, while it is illegal, you wont find a shop to do it for you because of insurance reasons. i know i am solely responsible for my installation in my own car so i only do such things knowing the issues behind it. plus i only watch movies while im bored at work and parked hehe
