Default New Stero [questions on] MODIFYING the dash

Ok so im really new to the Scion tC world, in fact im going to go buy my first one this weekend. the new pioneer steros that come with it are sweet. but i really want something that can play DVD's and have a touch screen with Aux Audio, and a USB input. and i want to be able to control a disc changer too. (but i dont need navigation)

the ones iv narrowed it down too, in my price range are

Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD

or

Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD

now there isn't really any difference between the two except the Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD is a fold out 7" screen. now if i could i would totally go with this one but what im concerned about is the fold up cover the Scion tC's have. if i went with teh 4000 i wouldn't have to worry about anything and the cover should fold down and id be fine. but if i installed the Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD the problem is (again guessing) is the cover wont be able to come down at all, or might have to be removed entirely. ALSO if it removed the old stero and install the fold out model will it fold-out IN FRONT OF the AC vents? (because i dont want this either)

my questions are

1) is there a way to allow the fold out screens to work properly with the fold down sheild of the Scion tc
2) can the sheild be removed, but when removed and i install the fold out unit will there be empty space around the new fold out unit where the fold down screen was?
3) will the fold out screens cover the air vents?
4) and lastly is there a way to modify this part of the dash board (where the fold otu screen is) so i can install the Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD (or any fold out screen like it) so it works properly, doesn't cover the air vents, and dosn't have empty space around it

i saw some guy did this with his
Highslide JS
Highslide JS
Highslide JS

i like the idea (except for the fact that his screen covers the AC vents!) if he moved the Fold-out screen, below to where the device is underneath it that would work perfectly!

---->anyone got any pointers? id be really happy if someone could help

Those are great prices! Is the P4000 price for a refurbished model?

I wish I could help you, but the only suggestion I can make is to go for the P4000 model, because it looks like it would be a cleaner install and would keep the flip down cover. My only concern with that is whether or not it has security capability (i.e. Removeable faceplate).

My opinion is that the motorized flip out screen looks good in cars with a flat, flush dash. Our tCs look good with integrated screens. If you don't want to cover the vents, you could always go custom & mount the p5000 in the cubby hole under the radio. That would be trick...

time, money, and fabrications skills! a lot of the custom work you'll see comes from people who have learned thru watching or schooling and have the tools and resources to accomplish their ideas. see if you can contact those people you got the pics from and ask questions.
