Default To port or not to port that is the question

k I got 2 10" kicker subs working at 2ohms in a sealed enclosure, Ive got em reversed though since its sealed. They knock hard as hell but I wanted to know if you guys think I should port the box.. Each sub is sealed independently (theres a divider in between the 2 ). Ive got the book that came with the speaker and it tells me how big of a port hole to make and all that good stuff. Guy at circuit city told me a port hole would hit harder but he works at circuit city lol

what do you all think ?

If you port the boxes the subs will get louder, but will loose the kick, the punch if you will. IMO if you want the louder subs just get some 12's. 10's arent really for power, they are very crisp and clean. When you put them in a ported box they dont sound too good IMO. Id leave em sealed.

well these knock so hard that all 3 mirrors shake like crazy, you can feel the bass inside your body lol What I meant was would the bass be deeper, not louder.

heres what they look like now ...

well my guy who put my 12" in urged me to let him port the box cuz he says it'll be louder. told him i wanted to keep the box as small as possible since i was still in school and moving back and forth and stuff - so i kept it sealed.

since my plans are to go 2 10s, porting those will lose that kick? i guess i've never really seen 10s ported anyway

well I tried like having them the normal way in there and the speakers like barely even worked, it depends on what kind of speaker you got. If you make the port the exact size that the manufacturer says it needs to be then you wont loose kick but if you make it too big then you will. Try reversing your sub see if you like the way it sounds. Basically turns your car into a big speaker box ...I was just wondering wich would have deeper tones tho

Keep it as is. Porting yes will be much louder and probably deeper, BUTTTTT, only at a given frequency. You cant tune a box for all frequencys. A ported box is tuned to xxHZ. Usually 40 or so. That means that is where it will hit hard, anything around it will sound "off" not totally clear. It will still be bass, but not optimal. A sealed box is a better all around box for everyday listening.

Now if you are going for i just want to be loud to show off. And be a one hit wonder, then port it and you will be happy!!
