Question Factory sub: YAY or NAY?

I have an 06 tC. the factory radio serves me well enough to leave it alone (for now, MUAHAHAHAHAHA!) because of the MP3 capability. I have my old Sony radio that i can install if i wanted to (single DIN, blech!), along with 2 12" alpine type E subs. i feel that may be too much for such a small car, considering i drove a buick lesabre with those bumpity bumps over the last few years.

i like the stealthiness of the add on sub, but have had horrible experience with bazooka. my friend has a new lancer gts with the rockford fosgate package (i'm unsure whether it has an 8" or 10" sub) and it sounds great: not overly loud but still had enough bass to satisfy me, and i usually like it loud.

i'm not trying to compare the 2, but at the same time i am. i understand r/f is a higher end (?) company compared to bazooka - but i saw the add on scion sub advertised on a website for 0-250 (can't remember the name). if it sounds good i'll just spend my money on that, because having no sub(s) really annoys me.

so to the people that have it, was it money well spent, or should you have just skipped it and spent it on a better system?

i've heard the bazooka add-on... not impressed.

when it comes to the sound system - unless you're rollin in a lexus or an infinti with a 17 speaker bose system (stock), anything aftermarket is better than the factory. you're gonna regret getting the bazooka

i couldnt stand being sub-less either. so i borrowed a 12" rockford punch from my friend till i get what i want.

In the 08's the 6 inch pioneer sub came stock, and it bumps for a little 6 inch. Now I dont need to get a system until way later. My girlfriend just got an 09 lancer with the rockford package and it nice. My little 6 inch hits almost as hard, but its perfect for her. She loves it. Only thing I dont like about the new lancers is that they are slow.

Yes, the scion is faster. I let my girlfriend get 2 car lengths on me, then we raced. I was 3-4 cars ahead when i hit 3rd gear

And yes my girl is so awesome that she will race me.

see i need bass to enjoy my music (for whatever reason - its not like i listen to a lot of hip hop -booty bumpin music- but anyway). this 12" i got is cool, but i want a little more, like 2 10". i am concerned tho about weight when boost time comes around. i'll just remove the back seats!

and b00gi3 how good is that nav system??? im only lookin at the pioneer ones. i have a ridiculous obsession to stick with the same name brands throughout the car.

I think the factory sub is ok. I drove an 08 Lancer GTS that was fully loaded for the last year and I really like the factory RF system, espcially with the navi system. I was easily able to tune the system with factory controls to get an very good sound with the 8in sub.

I am not able to get the system in my 09 TC (most basic radio) to sound quite as good. The 6in sub hits pretty hard, but you can still it is a small sub hitting hard. It is really just barely better than the 6in sub that I had in my Wrangler, and that sat in the open for a couple years and was sumberged in water several times.

Where is the factory sub located?

Also, the TC is quicker than the Lancer, but the auto Lancer is overly slow. The 5sp Lancers are a lot quicker, but would still loose to a TC, but probably not by much.

ok so i made the right decision on a car choice then... . in any event, i pick up the tC in two days, with an upgraded head unit, fog lights, and a pedestal spoiler... i'm trying to figure out whether upgrading the stereo right off the bat is worth it. thoughts?

If you are talking head unit, and you have an iPod, then defeintly upgrade to the middle option head unit. The basic is not very intuitive and is really a PITA to use your iPod with.
