    Default Speaker upgrade...

Hello, I have Silver 2008 Scion tC. I been browsing these forums for a little while now when I decided to start upgrading my car. I ran into a couple problems after I purchased a couple parts. I will posts the other issue in the appropriate forum (Performance) when I am finished with this one...

I have been googling and searching this and other forums, so if it is plainly explained somewhere I appoligize for making this post, but I have not found it. However my audio issue is, I purchased 4 Infinity Reference 6022i 6.5" to go all around my car. So, I went out to my car to install them, and there are rivets in the wholes instead of screws... WTF?? So my question is... what would be the best way to install them. I did see on a different forum I believe, that someone said to drill them out. I REALLY don't want to go drilling holes in my new car. I don't have a drill anyway, I'm in the Army and don't have much tools that I take around with me...just basic stuff. Just trying to figure out what everyone else has done when installing theirs, thanks. Off to the performance forum...

Ooooh thx for lettin me know the speakers are riveted in!

I'd just drill out the rivets. You won't hurt anything. That's just how the speakers are held in. If you have questions, the guys at crutchfield are supposed to be super helpful. They send you everything you need if you order from them. Their prices are pretty good too. Check them out and shoot them an email.

Thanks, but that sucks. I really don't want to go drilling holes in my new car. Plus I don't have a drill. If anyone has put in speakers on their own, it would be cool if you shared your experiences. Or if they make any sort of kits... I dunno I guess if I have to I will take my car to best buy to have them install it. I was, however, trying to do it myself...

Ok, well it seems as if there is not much experience on these forums concerning speaker install/replacement. That's ok... I've been looking on this forums, and throughout the internet for a DIY manual on replacing the speakers, as far as the rivets, and the wiring, etc. But does anyone know of any place on the net that explains it in detail, with steps?? I hope to get a valuable answer from here as this is the forum I frequent the most, and I like it the best but I will post this same question on a couple other forums, audio maybe. I just figured since it is tC related this would be the best place. Thanks guys...

On Scionlife.com I found an awesome DIY on the speakers with pics and all for both front and back. I can't post a link tho cuz I'm on vacation and posting from my fone. Just look in the electronics forum there.
