Not familiar yet with '08~up radios. The older ones required the premium radio upgrade to have color changing LED's/display.

he has a different radio than you... so either way, you can't do it to yours.
(unless extensive labor is involved... and some money towards my direction.. heheh.. lol)

o dont worry about it guys cuz i did it already did it. i was looking through the radio instructions/handbook and it said everything there. pretty easy if i might add lol. well now it looks much better but the amber in the speedometer and dash still annoy me. How much do you guys think it would cost to get all of it replaced with blue? or is it maybe labor i can do myself?
thanks again guys for the help.
hmmm... you didn't see the color button on your headunit? (i can only assume you have the headunit that i think you do..)
if you can solder, you can change your gauges into blue. if you can't solder, either you can learn.. and/or talk to me..![]()

well i actually did the "non man" thing and read the manuel on the radio and it straight up said how to change it lol. it was pretty simple. You turn off the power, hold the menu button until a new menu pops up and you can change it under the illumination icon. also neat thing i found out is i edited the welcome phrase when you turn your car on. Its on that same menu. Now to the other thing...i dont want to sound dumb but whats "solder" exactly sounds like some sort of welding manuver???
sorta... melting metal, removing old parts.. melting again, apply new parts..
fyi, i responded to your other post.. don't by that crap from ebay.. they are ripping you off.. LEDs should cost you no more than $.50 each.... and they only sell you like what, 19+16. soo.. 35 leds for $38.50 after shipping?? when it should be less than $20?
along with the fact that you need an IC kit to regulate the voltage on the HVAC to keep it bright... which the ebay seller you listed probably has NO idea.. nor are they including it (at which they should.. with that price..)
geez... i wonder where they stole those pictures from...

yea ive noticed that those pictures they have are on other merchandise that other ppl are selling.
I have an 08 too. I had no idea we could change the color of the head unit display!!!! I am doing it! Juan, did you figure out if we can change our speedometer/dash lights? I really HATE amber and it just bugs me.
uhm... i already answered that question above..

SquallLHeart how's the LED swaps going? Anything new out there yet? My Son is wanting a swap done. He has the color changing premium head unit and wanted to know if it was possible to make the gauge cluster and HVAC do multi-color changing as well. It would be super slick to sync it to the head unit color change mode. Are you up to the challenge?

very much possible... just the fabrication for the gauges and the hvac to a RGB setup alone is the difficult part i have yet to accomplish or complete.. much less trying to sync it with the headunit..
at this point, there's no doubt that it's possible.. and the idea has been out there for awhile... but very much a challenge it is..
other than that, the swapping biz is doing ok.. nothing too special.. it has its ups and downs.. haven't really done any too recently, but i got about 3-4 people right now lined up to have them done sometime within the next few months.. and a few others still inquiring about stuff.
and then busy, busy with regular life.. bleh.

Do you make the Tach swaps? I wanted to install an auto cluster gauge and use the gear indicators as shift lights.

Uh, thanks for the attitude, Squall. I thought you go to forums to learn stuff, not be a (fragg'n male appendage) about it. I was just saying that I'm impressed with the fact that you could actually do it with a fair amount of ease but whatever.

OK, you have aroused the Thought Police. Whether you voted for Obama or not, that kind of banter is not allowed here at the Club. Sorry, but I had to edit you.

are you talking about rewiring the gauge cluster so the tach is in the center?
i can do that.. just a bit of adding wires here and there.
dunno about the idea of changing an auto cluster's indicator lights as shift lights though.. but maybeee
i was responding to your question about changing the speedometer/dash lights, noting that i previously mentioned that it would need soldering rework to change them.
uhm.. i'm unsure what part of my previous posts in this thread gave any indication of attitude displayed, however it only seemed that miscommunications were the only thing that happened... and you yourself took it upon yourself to blow it up into some dramatic issue.
it doesn't help in people wanting to further help you, btw.

That's right. I want to move the tach to the center as I find it useless where it is at. I bought a used auto cluster gauge as a spare for when I do the LED swap. That is when I thought about using the auto gauge's gear selector lights as indicators for other things like shift lights and for my water/meth injection system. Just not sure how to tap into them.

hmm.. you know the odometer reading is stored on the cluster right? so technically you can't change out your gauge cluster with another one...
though.... the manual cluster does have the same circuit board layout.. it just doesn't have the leds in the places where it would be for the auto cluster.
the thing is the auto and manual clusters are wired up somewhat differently in areas that i'm even unsure of, and there are some underlying incompatibilities i believe when putting an auto cluster in a manual car and/or vice versa.
there should be a way to utilize the empty spots in the manual cluster by adding the leds and then wiring it up somehow. it would require a little bit more research and exploration to find out the details for it, but it's probably just a simple addition.. playing with the pin layout in the connector.
