Not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot or not. What do you guys think about putting a cb in the TC? I've had mine in for about a month or so. It's the only TC I've ever seen with a 5' antenna sticking off of the trunk lol.

'Breaker, breaker 19. You got yer ears on. Is that one of them thar Sky-ons that I have been hearing about. Think you can be my Peterbuilt?'
You would be the first my friend. My Dad and Brother were big into CB's at one time. My Brother had a Linear power amp hooked up to his. He would dead-key it so that it would blast RF energy, disrupting alnd-line phones, cell-phones, TV's, FM radios, etc. The FCC was always on the hunt for him. Do you have a pic of yours?

Yeah, I wish I had that kind of power. I can get out 20 miles on a normal day. That's enough for right now. I have been able to talk skip though. One night I talked to a guy up in PA. 275 miles away. That was pretty cool. I'll post some pics up later on today. I have to find a better place to run my power lines though. Right now they come down inside the door and it looks kind of tacky. Stay tuned later for pics. I just wanted to see what guys thought about putting one in. I read the owner's manual and it says not to for fear of interference with the ABS and airbags. I haven't had any problems though.

RF can and has been documented in setting off CADs. A CAD is a small explosive devices designed to utilize the rapid expansion of gases to provide a means of mechanical movement. In the military, we set a HERO condition when these devices are being disconnected from aircraft systems (fire bottle, ejection seats, etc). This condition ropes off the area of work and does not allow any RF sources within 50 feet Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO)

Here are some pics. I don't have a camera, so all pics were taken with my phone.

Doubt it. If you read the article, it takes a certain frequency and a certain power level to cause interaction. What it could possibly do is cause a fault in the SRS module. So far, I have not found one instance of EMF interference causing any airbag deployment, nor SRS faults. What I have found was warnings about mounting or drilling into airbag locations and taping into the yellow SRS harness for power.
Did you know that the Scion's SRS seatbelts have these little explosive devices in them. These are called pretensioners.

Glad that youdid not try mounting it on the driver's side. Dangerous there if the cord tangles around your feet and it would be in the way of the driver's side kneebag. Did you put LED's in the radio face? It looks cool. Figure out where your going to run the power wires? There is a spot in the grommet for the ECM wiring harness behind the glove box. Running a lead for +12VDC and -GND should not cause any inteference as the ECM, sensors, and modules are all shielded. If it does, then you will need to run the power thru the grommet above the clutch pedal.

Yeah, I definately couldn't put it on the driver's side. No, I didn't put any LED's in the radio. The big radios come with the blue lights. I'm definately going to be looking into that grommet. Right now I have them coming in through the door jam which looks TACKY to say the least. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to try it out. Probably Tuesday. I have to put headlights in my father's truck tomorrow.

a cb in a tc sounds like you are a real redneck 10 4 good buddy![]()
I can't believe you have a CB in your car!
They see me rollin', they hatin'! <3
Cos some evil genius invented cell phones and CBs suck!

Just key your linear up and fry their cell phone.I find cellphones evil, atleast, the companies are. Plus, I keep breaking my cell phones.
CB radio used to be the cool thing to have way back when. The first in car phones were actually specialized CB radios. Even more interesting is HAM radios. With the right equipment, they can listen in on what's going up in orbit.
