    Default MP3player car connection? (help!)

Dont start with the 'use the search feature,' as that sucks and didnt find much.

Im purchasing a Zune next week and need to figure out a way to plug it into my 2006 tC.

    - I cant go the tape player route, as it doesnt have a cassette player and plus it sounds like ****.
    - I cant transfer it through the radio, as I have a stubby antenna and it gets no reception.

So what are my other options, and where can I buy it? Or moreso how does everyone hook up their Zune/ipod/mp3player to their TC?

...and I want it to sound good

I take it that you have the STD headunit. PAC makes input adaptors for OEM radios. Products . You can buy them at www.Crutchfield.com.

Don't the 06's come with the auxiliary cable that plugs in the center console? I know my friend's 07 did and I just gave him my aux cable since my head unit has an ipod adaptor (stock on 08)

xtragic is right on the money. I have an 06 and inside the console is an Ipod hookup, as well as an auxiliary hookup (and a power socket for charging). Try those out if they are there.

I think the ipod hookup comes with the upgraded head unit and the RS 3.0 to be honest.

Thanks for the advice everyone but my 06 never came with any cable, nonetheless a cable for the AUX input.

So basically my only option is purchasing an AUX cable to connect my Zune to the AUX input, correct?

Do you have an opening in the center console that says AUX? Was your car used? If so, you can probably go to your local dealer and buy the cable or I'm sure places like Wal Mart or RadioShak have an auxiliary cable for cheap. tCs actually come with them when they are new.

I searched 'Zune aux cable' on ebay and of course got a million results.

3.5MM JACK CAR AUDIO AUX AUXILIARY CABLE FOR IPOD/ZUNE - eBay (item 260377982934 end time Mar-16-09 13:06:09 PDT)

As long as the Zune has a 3.55mm input, it should work...right?

Damn, I bought my car brand new in 06 and never got a cable. And yes, I do have the AUX input under my armrest next to the spare cigg lighter.

But if all it is is going to the dealer or Radioshak and getting the AUX cable, then thats a piece of cake!

Ebay is a pain sometimes when you pay more for shipping then you do the product.

Yeah it is. I hate ebay. I avoid it at all costs. I would just check the dealer first or check maybe in your glove box (I happened to find my aux cable and I have had my car for a year!) and then use e-pray as a last resort. But yeah so the Zune should work once you get the cable. If I hadn't given mine to a friend, I'd send it to you cos I have no need for it. I have this weird iPod connection thing that controls the iPod through my headunit (stock on 08s).

Yeah, I must say I have never had any problems on Ebay (and Ive boughten numerous things) so I cant talk bad about it, but I will say its a pain sometimes...especially small things like this.

And my friend can control his iPod through his headunit like yours. I think its on the newer tCs, like 07+ or something.

I dont mind having to control it through my Zune, but through the headunit seems to be a bit more...efficient and easy?

Thanks alot for the help man, I appreciate it. And also your offer for your cable..if you still had it haha.

Well actually, on the 05 to 07s, it was an upgraded feature and it just came stock on the 08 to 09s. Controlling it through the head unit is a pain in the neck, in my opinion. If I remember correctly, someone mentioned that this cable should cost like $4 at Radioshak.

I haven't looked at it in a while, but I believe the aux port in the armrest only needs a 3.5mm male-male stereo cable that is cheap as hell at any electronics shop (like Radioshack).

    Something like this should work:
    3ft 3.5mm Stereo Audio Cable M/M

Just plug one end into the aux port, the other end into the headphone jack, and enjoy the zune tunez!!!
