    Default Ipod connectivity question...

I'm a fairly new tc owner and I had a question about IPOD connectivity....I opted for the pioneer system that was satellite and Ipod ready but.....and maybe it's cuz I'm blind....I can't find the connection. I know this question is stupid but I really can't find it...any help would be appreciated.

Seems to me like you need to take your own advice there buddy. And if i want to tell you not to be a prick then i will tell you. Oh and these theeds are two different ones. Same subject but the IPOD is connected differently therefor there are two ways to control it. If you knew what was being talked about then maybe you would understand that.

So maybe you need to just sit quietly and let other people deal with it.

There is no connection in the arm rest. I had the dealer look. And he couldnt explain it. So how do I connect being that my stereo has the option for MP3? This is retarded.....

If you are indeed driving an 05 you might not have the ipod connection option. My friends 05 doesn't have that option.

Late joining this conversation, but I had the same confusion when I bought my '06.

I talked to the dealer and they had no idea what I was talking about. Now, I bought my car slightly used, so I still don't know if maybe the car came WITH the cable that is needed to interface your ipod, but the dealer told me it did not, and it was actually a Pioneer product I needed to get elsewhere...

I called around EVERYWHERE and no tech stores knew what the hell I was talking about. There are actually two plug in's available, one is simply the 1/8" jack (does not allow interface on the head unit and does not charge) and the other is the direct interface one. Some shmuck at Circuit City thought he knew what I was talking about and simply sold me the 1/8" adapter. It worked, but no interface...

So, I did a ton of Google searches and eventually found the cable on Ebay, as the other person mentioned. It is a special cable designed specifically for Scion TC ipod/Alpine interface. I think it cost me around $35.00 and was WELL worth it.

As someone else said, I am pretty sure that the '05 cars did not have this option available though. So, only '06 and up I think.

    Exclamation Eeek.

I have a used 2005 scion tc, and trust me, I have looked everywhere, and there is NO standard aux in plug.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can? I've had my car for a year, and it just really bugs me that I pay so much and can't even listen to my ipod.

PS - I have tried the stupid radio transmitter things that plug into your lighter, and even in the big city of Phoenix, the reception still sucks.

    help!

and by the way forbidden, fighting online is like the special olympics..no one wins.

Crutchfield.Com They have adaptors to allow aux input on factory radios.

As for the prior bickering, I may have to utilize my Super Moderator Status to magically change the tearse words to a bunch of freaking flowers so play nice you two. Just let me know about duplicate topics and I can merge them together.

My brother SWEARS by Crutchfield. I have never bought anything trhough them, but my older brother has told me many times they literally have everything you can think of for radio/tech/stereo/car equipment.

Also, can he just upgrade his Scion/Pioneer stereo through the dealer and get the input hook up with that??????

Yes, Crutchfield is a very trustworthy source to purchase from. They have been for well over a decade. Yes, your Brother can upgrade to the factory radio with the IPOD connectivity. It would be cheaper if he bought an aftermarket unit to do the same. A used OEM unit would be a good buy if the seller is also throwing in the OEM IPOD connector, harness, and cable.

    Cool.

I should have clarified, but I wasn't actually talking about my brother (re: the ipod), I was referring to SomeanthaCee's question about having the old stereo on the '05 TC that does not have ipod connectivity.

Sorry about the confusion. My brother simply told me Crutchfield is awesome. I was asking if SamanthaCee could just upgrade to the newer TC stereo and get the ipod connectivity. Seems odd that they only offered this after year 1. But you're right, probably cheaper to get an aftermarket with ipod connectivity. It's just cool how the choice of two connections is right there in the arm rest for you, but sucks for '05 owners.

The only hidden cost will be getting the harness and socket that goes from the headunit to the center console.
