Default Problem using my iphone on my factory pioneer stereo

I recently bought an 06 scion. When I hook up my iphone to the factory pioneer stereo the car came with it wont detect it. I also tried using it through the aux input and that wont work either. Anybody out there know what I might be doing wrong?

First off I have to ask you, is your deck Ipod or Iphone compatible? You may have to go into the settings of your headunit and configure a few things, or you may need an adapter to recognize the Iphone. Read in the owners manual and see if it is Ipod or Iphone compatible or if there is a setting or something you have to plug into.

Another option would be calling the dealership or a local stereo/headunit shop and explain them your problem. You could even call Best Buy, or Circuit City, since they specialize in audio/video. Anything I mentioned is worth a try.

Best of luck and hope everything works out for the best.

Personally, I would ditch the factory headunit and buy a good after market flip out or indash headunit. You'll have more options, more wattage, better sound output, and the ease of plug&play. I have a JVC indash headunit that comes with a USB port that allows me to plug my Ipod in directly w/o having to buy an adapter. Plus I have more wattage over a stock headunit, plays CD, CDR, CDRW, MP3, DVD, DVDR and DIVX format. I also have the option for NAV, Bluetooth and IPhone. Its totally up to you and if you want to spend the money. I would suggest (JVC, Jensen, Alpine, or Kenwood).

I am soooo way late in the game on this, but does anyone find the IPOD interface on the standard Scion (Pioneer) radio lacking so bad that they should not even advertise that it is there? I have had my Son's RS 3.0 repo'd back into my hands for some time but never really messed with this interface much.

Scenario : Downloaded a couple of Van Halen albums from iTunes onto my 3rd gen iTouch. First, there is a comms error about 30% of the time so I have to jumble with that. I am quickly rewarded that "This interface will not charge your iPod" message crap. Charged batt so no big deal. Menu over to Artist and spend the next 10 minutes plus rotating the knob through my extensive list to the V's. Oops, you waited too long so back to "A". Arrgh! OK, How about I sift thru the albums to "Diver Down". Nope. Sorry. It is not listed in the "D"s! Son of a Biscuit Eater! I just paid for all those songs and I can't even listen to them. Gave up but on the next day, I found the backdoor by creating a new playlist with just those 2 albums in it.

Now, I just found out that my new KD-AVX77 has a compatibility issue with the 4.xx OS for the Apple products. I had to upgrade my iTouch to 4.10 OS just to get the skipping playback problem. What a total pain in the arse this is! Anyone got any better ideas?
