    Default Immobilizer

Hello I recently bought a used 05' Scion tC - manual,

and the dealer had only 1 key. Rather than spending an extra 0 for a spare I want to disable the immobilizer and be able to use the spare keys I had made at Menards. I understand the extra risk I take with doing this.

Does anyone know how to do it?

There is no manual bypass and, as far as I know, there is no software switch either. If there was a switch, it would require the Toyota Tech Scantool and interface to switch off or to do a reflash to switch it off. The Tech Pub states nothing about disabling the system. If it does not work, they replace parts.

Darn, I was hoping I could get around doing it the polak way.

I'm gonna take apart the key I have and mount the circuit near the immobilizer. Behind the plastics.

    Thanks again NavyLife

It believe that it is embedded in the key and not the electronics for the keyless entry. Save yourself the problems that you will inevitably receive and just bite the bullet and pay for a new key. As long as, your key is one of the master keys, your cost should not be that much compared to if the key is not known by the transponder as a master key.
