Default Pioneer stereo won't detect my iPhone

Last month I picked up a 06 Scion tC with stock Pioneer stereo from a garage sale. Everything is working fine, but for some reason Pioneer stereo won't detect my iPhone. I also tried using it through the aux input with no joy. I don't have Scion tC owner manual to see if the stereo is iPod/iPhone compatible or if there are any setting or something I have to plug into. Just wondering is there anything I can do myself or should I call the dealership to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

As far as I remember, the '06 Pioneer headunit is exactly like the '05 which does not have IPOD connectivity. There is also no AUX input. You could get a PAC adapter from Crutchfield iCarStereo – Connecting Your iPod or iPhone to your Car Stereo at Crutchfield.com

The headunit was never built to handle the iphone through the ipod connection, it a different os om the iphone compared to previous ipod gens. However the two way headphone jack should work just press the aux button twice. The aux button has two inputs one is for the ipod and the others for the headphone jack.
