Exclamation security alarm goes off even when car is unlocked.. need serious help

i literally bought my 05 tc four days ago and i keep having the same problem with the alarm. i've never owned one before, so maybe i'm just missing something. i'm guessing it's an after market alarm because i read the manual cover to cover and didn't see anything about it. when i unlock the car and pull on the handle the alarm starts blaring 5 seconds later. sometimes i don't mind cause it draws everyones attention to my sexy scion but it's starting to get on my nerves a little bit.

it stops if i push the unlock button twice.

& i don't want to get rid of the alarm at all. i just dont want it to go off after i unlock it and get into my car.

What brand is the alarm system (AutoPage, Viper, Crime Stopper)? Have you checked the battery to see if its low and needs to be replaced?

Another problem may be the wiring or a poor/bad ground, I would have a professional look at this problem.

If you are unfamiliar with car alarm wiring, you should seek the help of a car audio/alarm shop. Look under the hood for a door pin switch similar to this, Switch - IBUOnline This pin maybe damaged or the wire is disconnected and it touching metal (ground trigger).

Scion also has an upgrade to the keyless entry that provides some alarm function. Look for any decals on the windows that state "Scion Security". Also, check the switch panel next to your sideview mirror control left of the steering wheel. These are normally blank. Do you have anything that looks like a little microphone or a valet switch. Note: If you have the OEM fog lights, there will be a switch there. The Scion Security system came either with a shock sensor (under dash) or a glass breakage sensor (the little microphone with the read LED occupying one of the switch plates.
