    Default iPod- better interface?

Hey there, sorry if this question has been posted before- I searched a bit but didn't see anything about it.

So I have a 2007 tC and a 30GB classic iPod. I've noticed that whenever my iPod gets docked, the interface on the iPod gets locked and I have to navigate through the tC's console. This sucks when I have a huge playlist with lots of artists and I want to listen to a specific artist near the lower part of the alphabet, or when I want to listen to a podcast.

Is there a way to be able to control in real time the iPod's actions when plugged in or do I just have to deal with it?

    Thanks. (:

The answer is "No". The iPod interface on the Scion radios blows. Limited and way too cumbersome to operate. What is up with it not charging either. I have had quite a bit of interface connection issues. Sometimes I can't even get my iTouch recognized. iOS updates seems to make matters worse. My Son would just use the AUX input and control his iPod directly. He said it was so much easier. Everytime that Apple does an iOS update, it seems to make radio interfaces stop working.

I bought my JVC KD-AVX77 EXAD headunit primarily based on it's advanced iPod/iPhone/iTouch integration. Worked great until the first iOS update. It flat-out failed to connect. The next iOS update had me connecting with limited functionality and about 50% of the time receiving and "Unauthorized Device" error message. I had learned that for a connection, I had to have both devices off and let the headunit awaken the iTouch. Even with the iOS 5 big update, it refuses to connect most of the time. It connects successfully in Blue Tooth but I am unable to select playlists so it is back to controlling the iTouch directly.

JVC and other manufacturers have complained that Apple is the cause of these problems. Apple cares not to listen to it's customers about this issue. I am sorely tempted to go back to my easy to use Sansa MP3 player.
