Arrow Scion tC 6-Speed BH6 Manual Trans

Specialist manufacturer of manual transmissions, Aisin AI

Bet ya'll did not know the tC had a 6-speed automatic trans option, the BG6 produced by manufacturer Aisin-Ai Co, Ltd.. In case this is wooshing way over your head, the tC is mated to the U241E automatic transaxle, a compact and high-capacity 4-speed Super ECT (Electronically Controlled Transaxle). This might just be an oversight as this the BG6 is the transmission mated to the 2GR-FE V6 found in the Camry and Highlander.

No, you are not seeing things. The title does say 6-speed manual. Look to the right of the BG6 and you will see it's 6-speed manual cousin, the BH6. This trans is slated for the 2009 Avensis and the Euro version of the RAV4.

Bonkers! We got smeghead again! The tC and all other vehicles utilizing the 2AZ-FE are shackled to E350 5-speed manual (BE35 by manufacturer Aisin-Ai Co, Ltd) with no options in site. This seems to be the fate of the 2AZ replacement, the 2AR-FE as well.

Damnit! I made the mistake of getting the automatic (still love my car though), but a 6 speed auto would be killer!

One would think, but the 6-speed auto is dyslexic never knowing which gear to go to when romping on the pedal. Nothing like the 1~2 second delay between WOT and the correct passing (downshift) gear. Hopefully someone will crack the software and make it more aggressive. The 2009 Matrix and Corolla have a 5-speed auto option that should be adaptable to the tC.
