Default Short Throw Shifters - Axxtion

    Hi All,

    Short Throw Shifters 54% reduction.

I am machining STS's. Because I can private label these, I can be more aggressive in the performance, 54% reduction instead of 30%, and reduce the retail price drastically.

Is any one interested or are there too many STS's on the market already???

Do you have a website? Can you please explain what a transmission mounted STS on a Scion? How does this differ in performance to the standard cage (console mounted) STS? I find my TRD STS works better like this.

Gotcha. Now I understand what you meant by "at the transmission". I slow. Sometimes 2 and 2 don't go together for me. It makes perfect sense now. Sign me up for one. How much? Are you offering anodizing? When can ship? Do you have a website?

I would think so. It does not alter the shift geometry of the shifter but that of the SELECTING BELLCRANK ASSEMBLY so these two should compliment each other. As soon as the poster can provide website, contact, and payment details I will find out.

My old XXX inventory is on eBay for 95$ delivered and my new Axxtion STS's will be the same price once they are offered. The xB Gen 2's fit your TC.

    thanx

    Thumbs up The 411

OK Club Members, I have been in direct contact with Mr. Watkins (owner of Axxtion STS). We discussed the benefits of changing shift geometries directly at the bellcrank gear selector on the transmission vices that of the gear shifter cage at the center console. Both a console STS and a bellcrank STS offer the same outcome; a quicker shift. The difference is an easier install, cheaper cost, and OEM shift feel. These Axxtion STS are actually XXX catalog items so they are accepted under warranty at the Dealership.

Before I will put my Krusty Brand Seal of Approval on it, I had an Axxtion STS sent to me for evaluation. These were designed for 30% shift reduction directly off the 2nd gen xB which runs the same powertrain as in the tC. I will be testing the fit and function of this on my tC as the cable brackets on the tC could be different. You may recall that I have a custom TRD Slant Shifter. Not only am I checking the fitment, but actuation of the linkage with the combined reduction effect of both a console and a transmission STS together. The STS will add 0.50lbs (08ozs) of weight to your shift selector linkage which might be a plus to the weighted shifter guys.

This is what I received in the mail. Quality of materials was top notch with a hard anodizing on the billet aluminum. The machining was smooth with no imperfections. Came supplied with standard TRD install instructions. This is definitely authentic TRD, as we all know, is produced by different companies.

I will be test fitting on my spare trans, as soon as, I can unearth it from my tiny workshop. After notes and pictures are taken, it is off to install on my ride for some real world testing. I am expecting all-around positive results. Pending my OK, Axxtion STS has graciously offered a special price for Club-tC Members. More on this later.

Default Here Is My Long Awaited And Overdue Review Of The Axxtion STES

Straight up, it works! I started off by mocking up on my spare trans to get a better visual as seen in these pics. It was a very easy (off the car always is) and straight forward install.

    Short Throw Shifters - Axxtion-transmission-control-cable-assembly.jpg
You will notice that the second part of the STS attaches to the Control Cable Bracket that actually move the Transmission Control Cable Assembly over to be inline with the first part of the STS that is mounted on the Control Shift Lever. This is to prevent binding.

    Short Throw Shifters - Axxtion-e350-control-shift-lever.jpg
The STS connects only to the Control Shift Lever while the Selecting Bellcrank Assembly remains unchanged.

Now, for the actual install. As ya'll know, my tC isn't quite stock anymore. This made the install on my car a bit more tedious but not too much. With my crazy ergonomic TRD short throw shifter and TWM Bushings, the addition of the Axxtion STS made for some super quick shifts. Though gear engagement was slightly stiffer (My trans has always had a tight gear engagement), the throws between gears barely noticeable. It was like my Medeclorian Count peaked and I just willed the transmission to shift between gears. Selecting gears/reverse thru neutral was unchanged. This took a little to get used to but I quickly picked up on the difference. With a stock shifter, shift performance with the Axxtion STS be comparable or better than most aftermarket short throw shifters, less expensive, and easier to install.
