    Unhappy I have a problem

I have a 2007 Scion TC with about....80k miles on it.

When I shift to 5th gear it wont stay unless I hold it there. If I let go it pops out of gear. All the other gears run mint.

    Any Ideas?

I would first start off by adding a bottle of Lucas Tranny Fix. If that doesn't work for you, you may need to have the tranny flushed/filter/magnet cleaned/changed. Lastly, you could possibly have a wornout gear and may need to replace it. Another option would be to upgrade your clutch/flywheel: Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT), ClutchMasters, Exedy, Center Force.

5th gear would mean it is a manual. Do you have a short throw shifter installed? If so, the shift cables might be binding or not fastened properly to the shifter. Other than that, it would be internal to the trans.

The maintenance manual states these as possible causes:
    Locking ball spring (damaged)
    Shift fork (worn)
    Gear (worn or damaged)
    Bearing (Worn or damaged)

Figured out my clutch was most of the cause of this problem.

Recently swapped out my stock OEM clutch and flywheel for a Clutchmasters Stage 2 Clutch and a Fidanza light weight flywheel.
