    Default Clutch ideas

Hey guys, my clutch is starting to slip again.... and im not about to pay the dealership 00 again... can you give me any suggestions for a good clutch for my 2009 tc? I dont plan on going turbo any time soon. I plan on replacing the clutch and flywheel while im in there so if you know a good flywheel that would be great also!

Good to see you back. Sorry that it is under this issue again. Which clutch do you currently have and how long has it been installed? It is possible that your clutch pedal is not adjusted properly causing it to slip or early wear. Other than that, it sounds like time to replace. You should look at installing a Stage 2 or Stage 2+ if you are planning on going F/I. This varies slightly between manufacturers but is considered a very streetable (DD friendly) clutch. The popular ones are from Exedy, ACT, Clutch Masters. Spec makes a clutch as well but you need to call them to get the right one for your needs. They had a problem with their springs coming out of the hubs on their Stage 2 a couple of years ago. Most people run the Fidanza LW flywheel.

I had it replaced at the dealership at 2218 miles so I think its another stock clutch (and everything else). I'm not sure if it could be the peddle that needs to be adjusted or not. As I'm driving, if I try to accelerate the car will speed up a little but my rpm's will go to all the way up. Does that sound like a new clutch is needed or something else?

I would have the torque converter checked. I will also agree w/ NavyLife: ACT, ClutchMasters, Exedy and Fidanza for the LW Flywheel.

would changing the clutch/flywheel be too hard for someone with little experience or would I be fine doing it myself?

I can't honestly say, I have never owned a manual transmission. In my opinion, I don't feel changing clutch/flywheel would be too awful hard, but having a DIY would be very helpful.

There are no torque converters on a manual but there are clutches (clutch packs) in automatics.

There could be a few things wrong. Here is what the Tech Pub states for clutch slipping.
Clutch pedal (Free play is out of adjustment) CL-5
    Clutch disc assembly (Oily) CL-19
Clutch disc assembly (Worn out) CL-19
    Diaphragm spring (Damaged) CL-19
    Pressure plate (Distortion) CL-19
    Flywheel sub-assembly (Distortion)
Other possibility could be a bent clutch fork that keeps pressure on the pressure plate.

well im going to try and have the dealership look at it and see if they will warranty the repairs today, and if not then maybe i can get them to tell me what needs to be done to fix it.

would it be hard to change out the clutch/flywheel myself? (with a friend or 2)

I have to apologize to the group, I responded late in the morning, I was very tired and I didn't read the OP's question as clearly as I should have. I am well aware that a manual transmission doesn't have a torque converter and an automatic does. I tend to push myself doing too much and I allow myself to get run down. Sorry guys!
