megan headers

    Default megan headers

    ok i got these headers of one of my friends and he didnt have a gasket for it. what i need the exhaust manifold gasket,if that sounds correct,anyway does any one know where i can get one???

    You can get it from Toyota. It is parts number 17173-28010, but you could use your old gasket if you really wanted to.

    so the old gasket fits the megan headers??my friend told me that ill get a leak or somthing with the stock gasket.

    You are not changing the size of the exhaust ports, so there is no difference in gasket size. It is always better to replace it, but if you do not have it then the old one should do.

    Hold on a minute. Megan is famous for not mating up to the stock exhaust very well. They use different flanges and gaskets. You will just have to see if it fits, then do a leak check.

    I do not get how it could be different. It does not change the bolts on the engine and the ports coming out of the engine are the same, so as long as it fits that should it not fit the headers?

    the leaking is what im worried about. so when i do aleak check where or what am i looking at??

    Sorry, I was talking about collector flange, not the exhaust port flange. For the exhaust port flange, a new Toyota metal gasket IS required. The OEM gasket, like all metal gaskets, are crush type and are one use only.
