Pretty much just a show piece on the tC. The radiator has side panels that boxes the air to flow thru it. There is a leading edge seal on the upper lip of the front bumper fascia. A rear seal on the hood closes the gap onto the radiator upper support. All of this effectively forces the air to flow into the engine compartment via the radiator path. A reverse cowled hood would serve better to flow. Run Royal Purple Ice or Redline Water Wetter if you are worried about temps. I have run my hard in Texas on the back roads and never seen much of a temp jump. If you are running a huge IC you will be experiencing less airflow so higher temps maybe your norm.

BTW.. I am not opposed to the air diversion panels. If you want one, get one. They look good and don't hurt your airflow.
