simple bolt ons or like a turbo er wutever? get a intake or mod your stock one, you wont regret it !
Intake is the best place to start. Replacing the s-pipe will give a you a noticible exhaust flow increase. A good LW crank pulley will make the car seem have more power. You should check out the sticky in this section. Like beyond305 asked, what is it that you want to do with your ride? It makes a difference so you should decided know and set a game plan.

Still depends on what you want to do with your ride.
You want power, looks or handling?

i know. his tC has it all: look at that engine bay! look at all that blue. that's just modesty - it should all be green... j/k j/k
truthfully, it could be purple or fuschia or taupe and it would be phat!
but on topic, do something to make ur car unique first IMO. get something tC owners dont have. im getting a little tired of seeing the same mods on many tC's. im tired of people teasing tC's about it too!
(unless ur plan is to make it a crazy fast sleeper car - then that's cool)
My plan exactly. Only aftermarket thing visible on the outside of my car is my shorty antenna. The whole sleeper thing is working well until i get my gauges installed in the next couple weeks.

Sleeper is the way to go.
My buddy had the most wicked sleeper WRX in Lake Forest, CA.
NO external modifications of any kind except new wheels, and they were modest looking at that.
Exhaust 3.0inch with 5 resonators and a resonating bay before the muffler.
400whp No one could even see it coming.

I ain't that rich... I am actually broke nowDoing all of the work myself saved a bundle.
You could go something unique like that half finished RWD tC on the cover of Import Tuner June 2008. They gave the front end the new EVO look ontop of an AIT WB kit. The back fascia is sic though. For me, I am still planning a mid-mount/RWD S/C V-6 setup. I just have to wait till I get my shop.
Sleepers have always been the cool thing to do since the 1st days of hotrodding. The cars, as well as, their drivers were always consider mysterious. Of course, rides like this one from the American Graffiti (cool movie) movie screamed look at me, but careful, I bite!

yea speaking of that drift tC, i was looking at pics for the first time yesterday and i was wondering: what's the advantage - if any - of mounting the intercooler in the engine bay as opposed to the traditional front mount? i thought the idea was to get the coolest air possible (closest to the ground)

It probably has a hood scoop. If i were to get an intercooler it would have been sitting kind of like that. The guy ant my shop told me its almost the same as long as i have a hood scoop giving it fresh air. How right he is.... idk.

well I thought of 2 reasons why they prolly mounted it inside there. First one being that the air is probally being directed there from the upper grill spot in the bumper. The other reason I thought of was that since its a drift car, they might not want to damage the intercooler if they hit a wall. Seeing as drift cars crash alot and always need new bumpers, they probally figured it would be safer there. It would look sick as hell with that big intercooler just sitting in the middle though...nice car, what kind of engine is that? looks like a straight 6. Isnt that the same type thats in the skyline?

yea thats a good idea with trying to avoid damage. when i was at the NOPI show i saw 4 crashes - in practice! body kits all over the place!
"The RS*R Scion tC features a 3SGE Beams motor, HKS GT3037 turbo and intercooler, Blitz Dual SBC boost controller, and AEM EMS engine management system that outputs more than 400 horsepower, compared to the stock 161 horsepower."
here's the article im getting the pics and info from if anyone's interested...Drift RS*R Scion tC - Scion, tC - TunerZine.com - Your Online Automotive Magazine
I have never been to a Formula D event, but I can't imagine that they go fast enough to flow enough air to bring the IC into it's thermal efficiency range. I am with beyond305 on this one. This design was originally used on cars so that the frontend signature could be more streamlined.

at some points in the course they go 70-80 mph. but of course it isn't sustained and the event doesnt last more than a minute if that. but every car i saw had an intercooler, even the cute little mazda miata!
