So we're putting this to bed, finally. I have this forum and the responders to thank for this!
I got the clutch in my 2009 tC replaced, $1500.00 later. Before I allowed the dealership to open it up, I spoke to Scion and opened a case with them. Basically, I was told nothing could be determined until the car was opened up and fixed, so I gave the dealership the ok. I realized that at the end of the day, I am a car owner and one of the responsibilities of being a car owner is maintenance.
After I got my car fixed, a man named Darren who was working on my case gave me a call and asked how everything went. I told him the procedure was done and the car is in great, better-than-ever working order. He asked that I fax over a copy of the proof of payment I made and a copy of the service report, which I did as soon as I could.
I got a phone call yesterday from Scion who will be writing me a one-time check for $1200 for being a 3-time valuable customer. I really am not sure what did it, but persistence was one thing and being entirely honest, friendly and understanding was the other. I told them I was not clear on why my Scion with 34,000 miles on it has clutch issues when my 52,000 Scion never has and that I had heard there was some outsourcing to build parts back around the year my car was built. Scion did not admit to anything relating to such, but it sort of made me think that could be a possibility.
In any case, I was very happy that Scion took the time to work with me. I was more than thrilled to hear the news I got yesterday - I was not expecting that. As long as things are pretty smooth sailing from here, I am a very happy Scion customer.
Thank you, Navylife, for your feedback and support!!
