Default Check Engine Light after Header Install

Installed the HKS headers and my CEL wont turn off, read somewhere about having to put a anti fouler in my exhaust somewhere... umm this CEL wont affect my engine negatively would it ? its just cuz of the headers that its there right ? Installing a anti fouler would just turn the light off right ?

No, its probably the increased airflow from the headers. Do you have intake and/or exhaust?

Have you tried resetting your ECU? Same thing happened to my friends accord...

Remove the negatice cable to your battery for 5-10 minutes, then reconnect. Drive around for a while, you shouldn't get that pesky light again.

Let us know how it turns out.

K heres the deal, I did the ecu reset, let it idle out for 10 min before even touching the gas. It ran perfect so i got it in and drove for like 30 miles and then the CEL turned on. I hear on the other forums the anti fouler will get rid of this but im not going to bust my ass drilling a hole in my cat and then installing some anti fouler crap just for a light but I just wanna know if it is affecting my engine preformance

the CEL could cause sucky gas milage .. it all depends on the code .. if it's the o2 sensor (which it would be in this case) that would be ur result .. before i boosted .. i had Tsudo N1 4-2-1 headers .. i had to drill my S pipe and weld a CEL eliminator into it .. it was a b*tch but it got the job done ..
my problem was the second o sensor wouldn't make it pass the axle so i had to drill and weld to bypass it ..
i bought mine off of ebay for $10 .. ask the seller if its universal but ask if it could fit the Scion tC

A CEL is bad, obviously. Your car will run in safe mode which will give you crappy mileage.

As for the anti-fouler. it's an easy fix. go to an auto parts store that sells motormite 42002. i'm sure you can find the write-up somewhere but it's pretty simple if you have a drill with a 1/2" bit

Is this usually only a problem when you install a header? Like if say I just did from the S-pipe back would I get a CEL?
    Insert witty quote here.
