    Default Oil types

I'm just looking for some feedback and advice here, currently I don't have the tools or a the place to do my own oil changes so I have to take it somewhere which is fine, I trust the place that does it but I was wondering what is the best type of oil to use, I've been using a synthetic blend since I've had the car would it be worth the money for the pure synthetic, I live in New England so it does get cold up here just wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Yes it would be better running pure syn. Make sure you run with a mobil 1 oil filter or if you could find it a ams oil filter there both syn oil filters to go with the oil. The best syn oil to use would be mobil 1, royal purple, ams oil.

I just keep the same brand of oil with the same filter. They are designed to work together.

Mobil 1 is what i use

Right. If you run the good pure synthetic, make sure you have a good filter to go with it. I've gone the royal purple route and deeply regret it. I will be going with amsoil. Best stuff on the market. 15,000 between oil changes and better overall performance. Just alittle pricey. But, you have to pay to play!

Default What's the best oil for my engine.

Hello, well my 08 tc came with two free complimentary oil changes and i took advantage of those two already. Although the dealer seems like they know what they are doing, i don't feel like going back for oil changes now and paying them to do it. So i was curious what oil should i be using if i want to change my oil on my own. I commute to school so im driving on the highway quite a lot, what's the best oil to protect and keep my engine running like new.

I highly recommend a synthetic oil. I use Amsoil and have not had any problems with it whatsoever. That's doing a 90 mile round-trip to work five days a week...

you dont need to have a "required" amout of miles to change your oil. My buddy had a 72 chevelle and he changed his miles every 2000 miles. Bastard spent more money on oil and changing it then his gas at the time

Hey guys...i posted on this thread before...I just bought some Mobile 1 0w-40w full synthetic oil for my car. I was curious if this is ok to use. I live in New York, it doesn't get ridiculously hot over here in the summer but it goes get hot. As for the winter it's not arctic but it gets cold. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks a lot.

The manual calls for 0W-20 for the stock motors in the mild climates. The TRD S/C requires a higher viscosity of 5W-30 due to the increased cylinder head pressures and the gearbox of the S/C. Colder climates generally require less viscous oil so 0w-40 is a bit much. Also, the 2AZ-FE is a close tolerance engine and 40 weight oil will increase frictional loading between the moving parts. This will equate to more heat and less power/mpg. That is why the OEM motor uses sewing machine oil (0W-20). My advice for your climate is to stick with the 0W-20.
