Default Exhaust and Catalytic converter questoins...

    Hey yall,
I got my tc about 6 months ago, and I love it! So far I have the TRD exhaust, AEM cia, lowering springs, short shifter, and rear sway bar...Im looking within these next 6 months to get an engine torque damper, 4:1 dc header, and the greddy ti-c exhaust and a new s-pipe. My question is if i get the greddy cat back exhaust and s-pipe along with the headers, would i still have my catalytic converter? so i can pass the inspection test.

    Thank you

No, the cat is located where the headers would be going. You can replace everything except the headers and still be leagal.

Since our cars have two cats im almost positive you would be safe if you replaced that one and kept the one near the header, not 100% sure though, can someone else confirm this?

You would be good. The O2 sensor is right after the first cat and that is what they use for the inspection.

Yes, without the primary cat, your hosed if your state does an actual inspection for exhaust components. With the newer OBDII and CAN compliant vehicles, it is a given that their will be 2 sensors (AFR/O2) with a catalytic convertor between them. The secondary cat is in the mid-pipe and only serves as a backup to the primary. Removing this from the mid-pipe should not change your emissions by much at all and MAY OR MAY NOT pass your state's inspection. In Texas, some counties just look for a closed exhaust with a catalytic convertor intact so the secondary suffices.
