    Default tC Headers, s-pipe, exhaust questions...

    Hey guys,

    I just ordered Megan headers, (2.25 outlet size) and I was wondering what is the stock s-pipe inlet size (2.25/2.5 etc), and for the stock exhaust.

    Also, if the s-pipe is 2.5 will a 2.25 header work?

    Last question I promise! If I get a full catback system, do I need to get a s-pipe? Thanks!

    Yea these probably seem like dumb questions but when you're a car idiot like me... well whatdya expect?

    Yes, these topics are already covered, so doing a quick search can get you the info quicker. Since I am here (most of the time) I will gladly answer them now and then some.

    It does not really matter what the claimed size of outlet (collector) that is on the header. All of the tC aftermarket headers fit stock and aftermarket s-pipes. The s-pipe and header mate via a conical slip-joint that permits small size differences and provides for movement. The stock s-pipe is 2.25"OD if you can call it that (different sizing in the pipe). Most aftermarket ones are mandrel bent 2.25"OD with a few being 2.5"OD.

    Running a 3.00"OD, like for a turbo down-pipe, will work but you run into clearance issues with a lowered car. Here is an example of a custom 2.50"OD s-pipe tucked neatly under the oil pan. This was later wrapped in DEI exhast wrap to pevent the heat from scorching the oil in the pan and the rack and pinion.

    BTW... Meagan exhaust products are not known for mating up to oher exhaust components too well. Stay away from their s-pipe as it is total junk.

    What can I say, I like to know everything about my rides. I live, breathe, eat, and .......

    wait a sec.......

    let me look here........

    Yep, I poop tC's!

    My kids play that VW bug game known as 'Slugbug' or 'Punchbuggy'. Well, I came up with my own game to annoy them. When I see a tC I scream "tC!" then flash my tC brother sign. They can't play unless they give the sign so I win every time. Give's them Luv Bug admirers a run for tha money. Now, where is that 800# to Milton Bradely so that they can take my idea for nothing?
