    Exclamation Engine dead

I tried searching around and found nothing.

I have a 2008 scion TC manual with about 45k on the motor. Bought it brand new last september. The scion has trd exhaust and aftermarket air intake. Last year i had blown a valve and got it fixed but still seemed to have a few issues with power. Then about 2 months ago i had yet another valve issue which i got all the valves replaced..(and the dealer had the car for about 5 weeks) So i got it back about 3 weeks ago and on monday i was driving on the highway and hear a sound comming from the intake that kinda sounded like paper hitting a fan... a high raspy noise.. so i pulled over and tried to see what it was and found nothing. Finally got to where i was going and when i hit the gas... the car started bogging out completely. It was losing power and i have no idea why. So i brought it to my friends work and he was scratching his head too. So i left and not even 10 mins from his work... the car completely died. I had trouble starting it and on like the fourth try it finally kicked over.. I couldnt let the car idle what so ever cause it would just stall out. Then it started bucking like crazy (like when someone drives a standard and theyre about to stall it and the car starts jumping) i cant put the rpms over like 1500 or the car just dies out. Only thing i saw was a little oil in the intake... I have no idea what is wrong with the car... I don't even know where to begin. Anyone have any thoughts about what it could be or anything i could try to see whats going on? I already put the stock intake back on and it didnt do anything.... just made the noise not as loud. I cant even keep it running. Had to push it into a parking spot and it pretty much will not move.

first of all, you bought this ride last year and have 45k on it....DAMN!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!! DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!

i have no idea what it could be. It is kinda weird that after you got it back from the dealer, it basically started. It could be a number of things. The first two things that pop into my head is that either they mechs did something they shouldn't have or forgot to do something and it just got worse or there was another problem about to happen right before you took it in so when they looked over your engine, it seemed ok but now you broke the camel's back. I would have the dealer look into it and go from there.

i am sorry to hear abot your trouble. hope it all works out

Sound like a catastrophic mechanical engine failure. The ECM has a limp mode feature, but it only prevents you from driving over 20MPH and not what you described. It would be a safe bet that the MIL is illuminated. A code scan would be required here.

Being that it is under warranty, call the Dealer and have it towed. To fix a bad valve, the head had to be removed. Tech are not infallable and could have not secure the timing chain correctly, lashed the valves correctly, etc. There is too many things that could have been forgotten or done incorrectly when pulling a head and changing valve train.

I am more curious as to what cause your initial valve failure. I have not been privy to any valve train related failures on the 2AZ-FE. That is not to say there has not been any. Was it a cracked, burnt, or bent valve? Usually where one goes bad, many more follow. Did you juice it or boost happy at all? Our ECM sets the rev limit way low so valve float should not be a culprit.

Please keep us informed as to what the Dealer finds out and we will see if it washes with fact or fiction. I do believe that your current predicament is directly related to the original issue. The tech never resolved this which makes the Dealeship liable.

Remember that J.G. Wentworth can get your money from structured settlements now. All you have to do is scream at the Dealership, "I want my money now!".
