    Default Help identifying parts?

Hi All, this is my first post here, I have been out of the automotive scene for a couple years now but I am ready to start back up.

I just purchased an 09 TC 3 days ago and I have been online researching ever since.

I found this car at a local junk yard and I wanted to know if someone can help me identify some of the parts on it

I wanted to know if anyone recognizes the header, the strut tower brace and the Air intake in this engine bay

Those headers look stock to me, just without the heat guard, but Ive ben wrong before, as for the intake, can you get a picture of the filter and or bend? Also that engine brace dosent look TRD so It could be a E-Bay model.

Nope. Stock headers would be really rusty. Those are DC Sport headers. The intake is the Injen cold-air. I think the strut bar is from Hotchkis. All in all, good quality stuff. Snatch it! If you don't, let me know where it is, I'll take 'em.

    Just for proof.

Notice the logo on the top.

    Again, notice the logo.

Nope lol. I'm all stock. I wish I could run some of that stuff, but I am not that well off in the money department. I just have too much time on my hands.

I can't believe he found one in a junkyard. I would kill to find a tC like that in a junkyard.

I'm guessing most of the rear is totalled out. I can't find any of them up here in junkyards. I would buy that whole car.

Yeah, I agree. If the OP knows how to haggle, he might be able to get it for cheap if he can arrange a tow truck or something to haul it out of there. But, that may not be what everyone is looking for. Hell, I would yank the parts and sell them. The Injen alone sells anywhere between 3-$400 new. I'm sure you could at least sell it for close to $200. If the junkyard doesn't have a brand new price tag on it.

Yeah, but at least you would have something that you could take apart and completely learn about without messing up you tC.

Sorry for my lateness. Blame the cat, although, I have put on a few pounds since I was on Active Duty.

Redneck4csa, man I thought that was your ride for a moment. What did you do? Did you sneak into the junkyard with Armor All and Nu Shine to polish up NYG Eric's junk yard find? Man, you rock!

NYG Eric, finding a Scion tC in a junkyard is just about unheard of. To find one that still has the mods intact, that is freaking amazing. This like that hidden rare Bugatti nugget found in a garage. Find out about the motor and drivetrain. If they are good and you have the cash, snag 'em. I picked up the same setup for $1400 from an individual. As for the parts, Redneck4csa is absolutely correct. He wins Immunity this round.

Look up those parts on a few reseller websites and get an average price. If the junkyard will sell them for half the price or less and they are in good shape, then get them. For the header, check for rust and that the collector end is not damaged. For the intake, look for dents and be sure to get the couplers, filter, and mounting hardware. If you can snag the MAF with the intake, that would be awesome.

Awesome. I win ummunity. Believe me, if I could sneak in to that junkyard, I would have done ALOT more than just Armor-All them lol. Five finger discount. I would take the headers, an s-pipe if it has one, the intake, the strut bar, and the steel-braided radiator hose.

Hey, wouldn't be that bad. Hardest part would be the headers and strut bar lol. I may not need them. I may be getting myself a set of headers here very shortly...

Nope. I don't want to get into too much detail. Never know, deal may fall through. Anyway, if everything pans out ok, I will be in posession of Weapon-R headers and an S-pipe. Whoo-hoo, first mod. Everybody cross your fingers.
