I can't help you out on the clutch question. However, when it comes to the short shifters, from what I have heard, these are some of the best you can get. Doctor Isotope dot Com - Home

The TRD short shifter did not really make a difference in feel. That's why mine got bent. TWM makes shifter and cage bushings as well.

There's a difference between a short shifter and a short THROW shifter.

I can only assume you mean a short throw shifter.

Though TRD makes quality products, they also have to be CARB and manufacturer compliant, so their products tend to be more on the conservative side.

I'm actually looking for a short throw shifter install as well, and was wondering if anyone here had suggestions.

The TRD shifter really does not shorten the throw by much and keeps the stock height. The slant really does not take much more out of the throw. I did it expressly for ergonomics as my elbow was constantly hitting the center armrest/console. The grip is much improved and feels better in my hand as I drive with it constantly on the shifter in city traffic.

You can use a O2/MAP gas torch to heat up the metal and bend with 2 pair of Channel Lock pliers or completely remove the shift rod and put in a vise.

Any recommendations for a good, noticeable, short throw shifter?
