It may take putting a couple of feet in some people's arses, but you have to keep on them. Tenacity is the name of the game. They are hoping that you will just blow away (which most people do). Keep on the Toyota Customer care and demand a case number.

Indeed. Since you are not the only one with those kinds of issues...

You know its funny how the Toyota, Lexus, Scion relationship is, when you get an issue that requires attention, your a scion not a Toyota, but when you get a ticket your a Toyota. Wouldn't Toyota save money if they just put everyone under the same dam coverage.... well maybe not Lexus that's their luxury line but scion and Toyota can be under the same maintenance programs without any conflicting issues.

Get your money Nat, and if you don't stand outside the dealer and tell people not to buy a car there...i mean what are they gonna do? lol

    Default What ever happened?

    Hey Nathan,

What ever happened with your 2009 tC clutch issue? I am having the same exact problem as you. Burned out clutch at 7400 miles with the dealership and the Toyota Field Rep both saying it could only be due to aggressive driving. I don't believe them. Did you ever get them to admit that there was a problem with the clutch? Did they ever pay to fix it? They charged me $1400 with absolutely no admission that there could be a parts or manufacturing defect.

Well I still think its a faulty part but that is all the money i could get back from toyota. 50% or about $750. Just keep calling 1-800-Go-Toyota and bug them to DEATH until they refund your money. Call them EVERY SINGLE DAY. Eventually you will move up the line and talk to someone that can help you. It took me several months to get them to agree to pay me and then another 3 months to get my check....

I have the same warranty and the dealer basically told me to bend over and take it after i called toyota. they didnt seem to care what happened. but then again about 2 weeks later they were in the news for renting out cars instead of selling them to people who didnt speak very much english.

then its time for another dealer even if its a little out of the way. good service is hard to find but when found can be rewarding.it well worth the time next time you get the car serviced.

LOL yea im not going back to that place... There are plenty of other dealerships in Houston... I also learned that if they wont warranty it, just do the repairs yourself... put in better parts and it will still be cheaper...

    Default Here's what to do

My 2009tC clutch went out at under 10K miles and the car was not abused. Here is what I did:

If Scion/Toyota will not honor your clutch warranty on a low mileage car, call 1-866-70-Scion (1-866-707-2466) and open a case. If the dealership makes you pay for the repairs and you have not abused the car, then call back Scion Customer Experience, tell them you are still dissatisfied and ask for them to send you the paperwork for arbitration. Fill it out and send any documention you have, especially if you can prove you have not abused the car.

When you speak with the arbitration company (will be National Center for Dispute Settlement - NCDS) and they give you an option, ask for a "documents only" review. They will appoint a 3 person panel to examine your claim. This is what happened to me and I got the full amount of the clutch replacement back from Toyota!

Shame on Toyota/Scion for making (formerly) loyal customers go through all this to get satifaction!

Will be shopping for Hyundais and Kias in the future!

Good info. Unfortunately Scion has fell pray to the Toyota mantra of customer last.

Default Scion tC OE clutch - Now is the time to complain!

In light of the way Toyota has been ignoring defects, I think it is time to let our government know. Right now there is an inquiry on Toyota in the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

If you've had frustrating problems with Scion tC clutches, you can go to the House's Tipline at https://forms.house.gov/sites/comms/...orms/form.html
or write to Rep. Bart Stupak at Write to Representative Bart Stupak
or Rep. Betty Sutton at U.S. Representative Betty Sutton :: Representing Ohio's 13th District

You can also write to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood at Ask a Librarian
