    Default Keeping the tC cool

Before i say anything further, i am electrical savy, not mechanical savy but ever since i got this car, i am learning.... i want\need mechanical experience in future upgrades so let me say what my new 07 is doin-

I am bout to take it out on the drag strip next friday to race a friend in his 97 dodge avenger.

I have been playin around with my car on the street and i have been messin with it, racin the engine, in between the 800 - 900 mile mark. I have an auto tranny but when i am racin on the street, i like to manually take control of the gears, period.

So, of course, L to 2 to 3 to drive if taken off from a stop of course.

Anyways, after a while of racin, the engine bay has a horrendous amount of heat emitting from under the hood.
Now, i can understand maybe that everything is new but i serisouly do not believe that it will just... go away after it's broken in, no way.

This is what i am after-

Before i even think about makin the car any faster, what options are out there to get that engine cooler for what i am doing?

I manually switch gears once they hit 5Krpm, sometimes 5500 but only in 1st or 2nd.

I am mainly lookin for cooling options that will help out now, when i really go out on the 1\8th mile drag strip next week and for future upgrades.

    Thanks guys.

Shifting gears does not matter. Try Royal Purple Water Wetter. It really does lower the temps by making the coolant a better conductor of heat. Try a cooler thermostat. Run your A/C before you race, shut off when you race. The A/C has extra fan to pull more air over the condenser and thusly your radiator. Run A/C at lowest output (not max). This creates the least amount of heat over the A/C. Every lil' bit helps. You could also add a larger fan and/or radiator. There are also several companies out there that offer thermal wraps/shielding. You can get a hood with the big blow-thru vent above the header to exhaust out that heat. There are radiator air diversion panels on the market, but I see no conclusive evidence that they are more than bling. The factory hood has rubber gaskets to to keep the air from leaking. It may not be perfect, but it works. You can also add an oil and tranny coolers. There are also thermoelectric coolers to be had for cooling water and your fuel.tC Oil Cooler.JPG

i hear fan shroud cover will help direct more air through radiator and help cooling. also vented hood will help. header wrap or ceramic coating. also if you are running themhot alot try switching to synthetic fluid it will protect it better and give you little more power. water wetter is supposed work good. also running water not mixed with anti frezee will cool little better.

Why do that when this topic is already open and has started being discussed?

There is nothing wrong with bringing up old threads to get the discussion going again. My thoughts on this one instance though, that it would be better served as entirely new topic that would propagate further as a group discussion rather than that of a Member question. Some people ignore old topics or bumped threads. You are running the show now and doing a great job, so it is your call. Either method, it is a good topic to bring up again.

Do you think I should move the posts already in here or just start a new thread and let people discuss from there?

Can we use different color coolant or do we have to use the pink?

Well I just had a conversation with a person from Scion's website who said any 50% coolant 50% water mixture would be fine for the tC (got it in writing too ) now i just need to know what the content of the coolant should be? are they all the same or do they differ?

What do you mean by the content of the coolant?

    Just standard anti-freeze will work.

Afraid of pink? Everyone know that real men wear pink.
    Keeping the tC cool-grand-ballerinna-218.jpg

The pink colorant is probably used for 2 reasons.
    1. To distinguish Genuine Toyota Super Long Life Engine Coolant
    2. To provide an age/contamination gauge
