Default What can I do to an auto 08?

Im picking up my new tc tomorrow and its automatic. Im buying it used and im getting a good deal or else i would have got 5 spd.

i want to know what i can do to it performance wise. I've been reading forums and im leaning toward going with the trd s/c.

i have bad experiences with trannys and i want some reassurance before i go putting parts on my car that im not going to blow it up.

uhh.. not a bad idea to discontinue something not many people were buying.. on top of the numerous issues..
here's an idea what to do with a car.. drive it.

fyi, it's a used car.. you don't know how much or if the previous owner(s) abused the living snot out of it.

you can only do so much to an automatic. improving handling with suspension upgrades would really be the best thing..
    engine performance?? not so much..
    LEDs.... yay!

I agree with squal, its tough to know what the previous owner has done. You don't want to invest a lot of money into something then to have it fail because of something that was out of your control.

Can an Auto Trans handle force induction from a Turbo? I was under the impression that only Manuals could handle it.

Autos can handle boost. A lot of people hate on autos, but if you have the money, by all means go ahead and turbo it. You can have a really fun 240whp daily driver, and not have to touch the trans at all. Besides a trans cooler, but that comes wit the turbo kit.
    Boost!

Thanks. its good to know i can boost it without touching the tranny.

Im still unsure about it but a buddy of mine has a turbonetics kit for his tc and hes selling the car so he said he'd give it to me for a decent price so why not right? lol

Im not too fond of the turbonetics kit. Especially the unichip software. Its hard to find a tuner. I especially dont like to get used parts for the engine/drivetrain. Something could go wrong and you could wind up detonating the engine. I would go with a new dezod kit with a small quick spooling turbo.
    Boost!

You can still probably get the TRD SC kit, at least while whatever supplies are left last.

They just discontinued it "officially" about a month ago. I'm sure there are still some left.

A main reason it did not sell was simply because it was the only upgrade that was not allowed to be rolled into financing. Then, the economy went south and compounded the issue even more so. Kinda' hard to front 3 grand cash for something up front. If they would have allowed it to be financed, I'm sure they would have sold more.

My point is, if you're still interested in a SC fox, just shop around and see if they are still available. If your car is just a daily driver, a SC would be more ideal for you over a turbo. And cheaper.

Check and see if Sparks still has some. Looks like he does:
