Default Need a new Clutch... I think

I have 26000 miles on my car, i just started noticing that when i push the clutch down a screeching sound comes from under my car and it has gotten louder since i first started noticing it. It is also getting harder to shift which make the ride for me and my passengers very uncomfortable... last night was the worst, had these 2 girls in my car, and all they felt was 2 jerks every time i switch into gear.
I need a clutch that can handle my driving habits, i constantly shift gears because i live in the city, i am always in traffic and it causes me to be constantly be moving between 1st and neutral all the time, I downshift a lot because i don't have good enough brakes (i ordered them and then i need to install).

Basically i demand a lot from my clutch so i am not upset that the stock only lasted 26000 (i learned how to drive stick with this car) but now i want something that will work a long time, without any worries for a while. I tried looking some stuff up on my own but i am about just as lost as i was when i started looking.... so whatever is agreed i buy literally within the week...

I don't have one, but I plan on looking at Exedy. From what I've read, they make an excellent clutch.

Maybe something like this: Dezod Motorsports. Exedy Single Plate Thick Cerametallic Clutch-tC 05+ (106% TQ increase)

Yeah, definately check out Dezod's list of clutches and choose what you feel is suitable for your needs. By the way, this would be a great time to buy a lightweight flywheel to go with that new clutch...

As soon as Navy gets back from the Middle-East, I will be buying a clutch off of him. Alittle bit of overkill, but I don't care. I'm pretty sure I need a new clutch as well and I'm at 43,000 miles. But I do ALOT of stop and go. Recently, I'm pretty sure I've been hearing the throwout bearing when I release the clutch. So, with a new clutch and a lightweight flywheel (yet to purchase), I will be set to go.

I will purchase both but i just need to know what to buy exactly and a place to install properly. I could go to the bronx and ask some random transmission shop to install it but i rather take it to someone recommended. eh i am going to do some more searching, thanks for the input.

Well, what are you looking for in a clutch and where are you located?

I need the clutch to last at least twice as long, and that it delivers equal or better performance then the stock one. I am in NYC. I went to ebay, and they have a lot of clutches and kits which supposedly fit the Tc, but i am skeptical because the prices are low (which makes it so appealing). I am not a complete moron when it comes to car parts but i will say i am not confident with what i know so its easy for me to make mistakes in this matter.

Someone recommended to me just to go to a shop, let them look at what i want to buy and see if they are parts that i could use, and let them recommend something and compare the 2.

Did you try going to the Dealership for warranty work. There has been a rash of bad clutches lately which is showing a trend towards defective clutches or improper install. This has happened all of the sudden with the later models and from people not hotrodding around or boosted up turbo.

The Clutch is a ware part on the car and therefor Scion will not do warranty work to replace a clutch... (that's what scion told me 500 times..)

Yea but Navy is referring to a defective clutch, i think, No my clutch is fine, apparently the noise i heard wasn't the clutch, i took it to a Tech and the noise just didn't exist once he tried to replicate the problem. Kinda sucks for me i looked like the idiot!

thankfully i always take my car to these guys and they didn't charge me for the check, but i know exactly what you mean! But what could it have been

Every time i used to pushed down the clutch i used to get this screeching sound form under the car. Its gone now but i don't have a clue as to what it was anymore. Slow or fast i heard the screeching sound proportionally to how far down i had the clutch pushed down.
